Vodaphone Samsung Galaxy Y
hi guys, I currently have an old Sony Ericsson phone which I've had for two years but with my 18th birthday approaching I thought I might get a new phone, I've always really wanted an iPhone but its expensive and its unfair to ask my Dad to spend that on me when I currently give little to him
![]() anyway, I have seen this phone in the Argos catalog for £95 and it looks good to me, I just wanted to know a bit more about it though from someone who has got it. It seems perfect for what I want to use it for, it has WiFi, Music Player, Facebook & Twitter apps, a google App Store (is this similar to the iPhone app store?) and much more! the only thing that is bad about it is the camera which I wouldn't use often anyway and the memory card is Micro SD and I currently have M2 but that's not a problem either. any opinions on this phone are welcome, thanks

Galaxy Y is a very basic phone as you would expect at that price. Personally I would try a little more spend. Does it have to be on Vodafone?

The screen is far too basic for some tastes.
A San Francisco or Monte Carlo have 5 times the screen resolution, If you want top end and a brand, Expansys usually do the Acer Lquid Metal cheap. Acer don't have many network deals so their phones are not so artificially priced up. |

I'd only use it for listening to music, using the Twitter & Facebook apps, downloading apps from the app store, connecting to Internet using WiFi, calls & messaging, the screen resolution doesn't bother me or the make of the phone. Quote:

Those other phones are close in price and can be said to be '5 times better' for twitter and facebook.

The resolution of the screen makes viewing the internet a chore.
The Y was put out their for kids basically and that is generally the market. If you think that the Y is the best for you then go buy one. You asked for opinions and that is what you got. Check out this Galaxy Y review. It will serve you better than asking on here...

I just want to know more about what I want it for! for example, If I want it for the app store, I want to know which apps will be on it (eg. will ESPN goals be on it?) I want it for music, so does it have a good quality speaker? I want it for the internet, whats the speed like? these are the questions I want answered

![]() I probs will get one of these two now (Galaxy Mini or Galaxy Y) despite poor screen resolution, it is same as my current mobile and that is fine for me. found this: http://geekaphone.com/compare/Samsun...ng-GALAXY-mini which would you get between these two? Galaxy Mini is better because: considerably Longer standby time, longer talk time, better camera (3mp to 2mp) & assisted GPS Galaxy Y is better because: better browser benchmark (1,063 ms to 3,826 ms) & faster processor (0.8Ghz to 0.6 Ghz). I also read on Yahoo that the Galaxy Y has a more updated android market I thought they were all up to date anyway

I wouldn't buy either. So, don't think I should advise one way or the other. At the end of the day it'll be the one you like the look of most.....

Go for the Ace if it's being offered. A bit better than the Y while still being very basic.
