I love a good steak and ale and usually throw all the below in to a slow cooker for a couple of hours and then transfer to a pie dish and top with puff pastry and bake until golden.
750g cubed shin or chuck steak 2 onions 200g button mushrooms Small handful dried porcini mushrooms 3 carrots 250ml Guiness 1 boquet garni 2tbsp plain flour 2 beef oxo cubed dissolved in 500ml water If the gravy needs thicken when finished I mix in a few tbsp beef gravy granuals. |
