Listening to Heart (on FM) for a couple of hours yesterday, I was amazed at the amount of hacking of songs that seems to be taking place, more-so than ever before.,
I shall give an example, yesterday I heard We Built This City by Starship. It had a segue marker placed to run into the next track at: a) a silly position, b) 3 quarters of the way through the track, and c) before the natural fade point.
This is NOT a Heart bashing thread, just to point out that someone in the scheduling department at Heart either needs to sort the segue markers out on the playout system or needs to schedule a song or two less each hour to stop this from happening as people are noticing and it annoys them!”
a) The segue was at 3'47 on Starship. This was a very silly position, and it definitely ruined the song.
b) The total length of the song is 4'56. Now a quick calculation reveals that only 76% of the song was played, so yes it WAS faded 3/4 of the way through the track
c) The natural fade point? That was at 4'42, not 3'47. It didn't reach the whole of the chorus, let alone the end ramp, or the natural fade!
So by definition (as stated in earlier posts) all 3 criteria have been fulfilled so the song was well and truly hacked and butchered!
