I haven't heard Elephant being played much at all on the airwaves. The huge build up to the new single pretty much evaporated over night. How do you think it will perform chart-wise?

Its at 169 on the radio airplay chart, and it's still rising. The airplay will rise after her promo starts next week. She's doing a radio tour too this coming week. I'm not surprised at the radios. Capital are openly snubbing her (we requested it and they said 'how about Pixie lott'.) and Radio 1 have made it clear they don't like her, and don't play her at all. It's at #10 on the TV music videos chart. It's hard to say, as it's not out yet. Marcus collins' single has a ridiculous amount of airplay, but he needs it. She has one more single before her album drops in the summer so we'll have to see. I think a top 3 is a given. She's popular, has lots of fans and many have seen the video and are aware it's out in mid march.

I think it'll go top 10, but I don't think it has a chance at #1, since it's practically nowhere to be found on the radio. Nobody is going to know Alexandra has a new song out.

Promo hasn't started yet. She only needs 80k for a #1. I'm sure that many fans are aware of it, if they follow her on twitter.

A top 5 is sure but i doubt it'll go to #1. Might just peek intothe top

On a quiet week maybe. Both Katy Perry and Labrinth will sell well in excess of 80k.

Between 4 and 8, I reckon. Not crazy about it to be honest.

She'll get number one easy, she has a massive fan base and once promo picks up loads more people will hear of it.

I don't think so. Katy hasn't sold over 80k in a week in the UK IIRC...I could be wrong. SWY toppled her with 73k and that was in late summer. We can't be sure of how many know of the song. Its the total long term sales that matter. Not the first week as such, as Gotye is proving, and Whitney's debut showed. I wouldn't mind 60k first week for 600k over a 5 month period. I still think she should've put it out in early October with an XF performance. She'd have slayed it, and had lots of other shows to be on as well. In mid october, Rihanna averaged at 85k sales for WFL whilst topping the charts. Alex could've easily bested it, to get 90k first week.

It'll probably do well seeing as it's her first single since a while ago. I really like the song and think it deserves to do well though anyway!

We have to hope that if people like it, they buy it on March 11th on itunes/digital outlets.

Katy has sold over 80k in a week, California Gurls sold over 125000 copies on release week.

it depends on the buzz around katy`s single. `california gurls` shifted over 120k in the first week and labrinth is also out that week.

I do remember it being hyped at the time (I added an edit bit) and getting good airplay, and was very catchy + a big new release, which helped.

I think this will debut well, definatly top 5. But it'll plummet due to poor radio play. And I wouldn't underestimate Katy Perry, she might have been selling 80k 2 summers ago but she's came along way since then and has really cemented her status as a top-selling pop act. There's alot of love for Labrinth too.. so I'm guessing Katy at 1, Labrinth at 2 and Alexandra at 3.

I have to agree with spaceoddity, it'll debut well then drop like a stone.

I think both Labrinth and Katy have more chance of getting the top spot as both are brand new tracks which no fans legally own in anyway, which Alex's is aswell obviously but those two will have more airplay and surport. While I would love Alex to get it I think Katy is a sure win for #1.

Is Katy releasing the exact same week? That such be interesting

I can definitely see it debuting in the top 3. But I do think it's based solely on the promo during the week of release.

Can see it hitting No.1, then freefalling down the chart. Will probably the end up between 80 and 100 in the end of year chart.

Maybe. That's kind of what Start Without You did. It got to #1, but sold almost the same amount overall that All Night Long did, even though that only got to #4.

If she's out the same week as Katy Perry, and Labrinth, surely Katy Perry will win, and Labrinth will get 2nd? I don't think Katy will get opening sales as big as California Gurls, but I reckon she could do about 100,000. Alexandra is way behind those two in radio airplay, especially on Capital, one of the most important stations (which usually plays Alexandra a lot, but hasn't played Elephant for some reason).

They're snubbing her even though fans are asking them to play it constantly. They've done the same to one direction.
Radio 1 have always hated Alex, and now Capital are playing the same game.

In SWY's case, they didnt like it, and so didn't play it. It had about 150k figures for it's first 2 weeks or so, and then and extra 100k in total. It had massive equal jumps down the chart ie 1-1-5-10-15-20. I found the last bit quite amusing to watch on the charts, its rare that happens. In ANL's case, syco (again) deleted the original version off itunes, and so it forced people to only buy the single mix, with the irritating Pitbull.

And they did the same with Broken heels and The silence. And often they did it AFTER the original had considerable downloads. As long as she sells consistently and gets hits out, she'll be fine. Kylie minogue (I know its the physical v digital age but still) has lots of silver certifications and loads of top 10 hits. I'd rather Alex sell 300k per single (and have one big single ie. 500k) per album era than to have 600k followed by 200k singles. She needs to sell well over a long period of time, or enough to cover RCA's costs, which is why her writing songs (as she says she's done) is now essential. It covers her financially. There isn't much the poor girl can do.

I honestly don't think this will do as well as a lot of people think...maybe chart around 8 like broken heels.
