What is your favourite year in music?
M,ine has always been 1999, and I just woke up, tuned into Heat Radio and they are doing the "Guess the Year" for the whole hour, and they are doing 1999.

Switched in and heard:
Phats and Small- Turn Around
Shaft- Sway
New Radicals- You Get What You Give
Christina Aguilera- Genie in a Bottle

It was also the year Britney released her album.

Grwat tunes including:
Apollo 440- Stop The Rock
VengaBoys- We Like To Party/Were Going to Ibiza
Fatboy Slim- Praise You/Right Here Right Now

Was also the year of Backstreet Boys massive album (which yes, I did like)
Modjo- Lady

I can go on and on, and that's only a tenth of the songs I love.

What's yours?

For me, 1997, the last year of Britpop really.

Be here now: Oasis
OK Computer: Radiohead
The Verve: Urban Hymns
Stereophonics: Word gets around
Blur:Blur
Prodigy: Fat of the Land

+ Albums from Reef, Chemical Brothers, Texas, Ocean colour scene, U2, plus many others

Classic Albums one and all.

I'd add Daft Punk, Spiritualized, Eels and Bjork to that impressive list.

My favourite year was 2003. I also really liked 2007. Just so many songs I loved from those years.

Don't get angry that I'm not mentioning a year from the 70's or 80's, since I wasn't alive then lol.

1971.
Led Zeppelin IV and Who's Next, but I was a bit too young for buying albums at the time.
Focus
Back Street Luv by Curved Air
Life on Mars David Bowie
Hot Love & Get It On by T. Rex
Stay With Me by the Faces & Maggie May by Rod Stewart
I Am I Said by Neil Diamond
Superstar by The Carpenters
Banner Man by Blue Mink
Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves by Cher.
Radio Luxembourg on my transistor radio under the pillow at night.

Best not to mention Ernie by Benny Hill and Bridget the Midget by Ray Stevens.

I'm strangely nostalgic about 2007 for some reason;

Kate Nash, Adele, Klaxons, The Maccabees, Jamie T, Girls Aloud, Jack Penate, M.I.A, Britney.

Probably looks like a pretty unremarkable list to most, but it was the soundtrack to a pretty great summer for me.

It has to be 1979, the best and most diverse year for music ever.

The mid-noughties were my favourite years for pop music, kind of around 2003 to 2007.

2005 was the year my two favourite albums were released (Girls Aloud - Chemistry and Rachel Stevens - Come And Get It). Plus there was Annie - Anniemal (UK release), Roisin Murphy - Ruby Blue, Sugababes - Taller In More Ways, Madonna - Confessions On A Dancefloor, Pussycat Dolls - PCD and M.I.A - Arular.

But overall 2007 just about wins it, with Roisin Murphy - Overpowered, Girls Aloud - Tangled Up, Britney Spears - Blackout, Siobhan Donaghy - Ghosts, Robyn - Robyn (UK release), Sugababes - Change, Monrose - Strictly Physical, Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Trip The Light Fantastic, Kylie Minogue - X, Mutya Buena - Real Girl, M.I.A - Kala, Leona Lewis - Spirit, Kate Nash - Made of Bricks and Rihanna - Good Girl Gone Bad.

I'm pretty nostalgic about 2003-2004. I was 13 then and used to get so excited about what was on the music channels and I bought CD singles religiously.

Black Eyed Peas, Natasha Bedingfield, The 411, Christina Milian, Girls Aloud, Will Young, Mis Teeq, Gwen Stefani, Rachel Stevens were some of my favourites

I don't have a favourite year as such but probably around 1985 would be a top contender as that was the year of Live Aid.

1998 purely for clubbing reasons

Stardust - music sounds better
Energy 52 - cafe del mar
Tom Novy - superstar
Camisra - let me show you
Mousse T - Horny
Storm - Storm

But if i could have been there i reckon 1990 for pure acid/rave music..I was only 10

For me it has to be 2009 I have so many memories from that year

A lot of you probably think it was a crap year for music with a lot of dance style tracks but it was the soundtrack to the best year of my life

I turned 17 in May of that year and started learning to drive and loved it, passed quickly and me and friends had loads of road trips that year, going to blackpool and alton towers. Had loads of parties and it was also a great year family wise.

Basically I loved life in 2009 and since then things havent been that great.

The songs that make me nostalgic are

Pokerface
Paparazzi ( out in summer 2009 when I had my school prom )
Im not alone
Evacuate the dancefloor
I gotta feeling
Sexy Chick
Run this town
bonkers
number 1
bad romance
boys and girls

ahh the memories
