I like a lot of their singles but have never actually listened to a full album before. I know it's all down to personal opinion but which would people say is their best overall? Thanks

My favourite is Black Cherry - good balance of styles.

Yes definitely Goldfrapp are a rare band in which their singles do not do them justice.

And depending on what you like i would say:

Start with Supernature their most accessible and mainstream with gems aplenty
Head first same as above pure 80's disco dance pop great songs again
Black Cherry sort of distorted disco electro totally addictive and insanely catchy but a little less accessible than eith SN or HF
Seventh tree Folky ambient swirling sounds beautifully mellow and great not as dance or pop but has its pop moments i.e happiness caravan girl
Felt Mountain trip hop very portishead like a james bond soundtrack beautiful bold and chilled

My favorite is black cherry has the best of their first album and danc epop of latter albums

Absolutely.
The first album Felt Mountain is a classic I think.

For me, Supernatural is their best...but it is all subjective isn't it. Ooh La La and Number 1 are awesome anthems.

Supernature and Head First are both really good albums. Supernature was never off my iPod when it was released.

I didn't like Seventh Tree whatsoever. I didn't like the direction and to be honest, i found it a bit boring

Not fussed on Black Cherry either. Strict Machine is the only track which sticks in your head. The others are all very forgettable.

Felt Mountain and Black Cherry: truly fantastic...the others are not that bad either..

Supernature is such a cohesive album, if you liked the singles, it's well worth checking out the full album - it was pretty ahead of its time and something quite special.

I dont have Head First but i really do like and love the other 4 albums!

Sueprnature as people have said is their most kinda...commercial by their standards and most acessible...i would start there perhaps. Black Cherry is also my favourite of theirs.

I love them all but perhaps think Seventh Tree is my favourite as it was such a departure and I thought it was such a beautiful sounding album both vocally and the arrangements. My favourite track they have ever done was on Supernature "You never know". How that wasn't a single, I don't know.

All their albums are great. My personal favourite is Seventh Tree. Such a beautiful and relaxing record.

I'd recommend starting with Supernature, as it has a nice mix of styles

Yes!

Felt Mountains - Takes a while to get into but eventually it claws under your skin.

Black Cherry - Dark and sexy electro.

Supernature - Madonna's 'Confessions...' used this as inspiration.

Seventh Tree - Beautiful, makes me think of summer.

Head First - Camp, fun and pop.

"Black Cherry" is my personal favourite. "Tiptoe" and the title track are such a great songs.

Felt Mountain is the only one I really like, but it is a bit weird for some.

Haha, that's my favourite! It was the first Goldfrapp album I got and it brings back a lot of good memories.

I really like all their albums though, apart from Head First which I think is just ok. Supernature or Black Cherry are probably the best ones to get first. They just released a singles collection too which might be worth getting if you're new to Goldfrapp

YES it was COADF that made me learn more about goldfrapp...as she said she liked Alison and Supernature and Depeche Mode inspired the direction of Push and Like It Or Not. So yeah more to thank M for from me for getting me into that kinda darker Trance vibes.

I must check out Head First and complete my collection...was gutted that Rocket wasnt bigger as a single really.

Yes is all I will say, they have much superb material. Felt Mountain is my favourite from them, if you want commercial music look on their other albums instead.

First album I bought of theirs was Black Cherry back in 2004, and to this day it is in my top 10 of greatest albums of all time. I was so excited for Supernature, which is still a good album. Then I bought Felt Mountain and Seventh Tree at the same time. Never reallly warmed to Felt Mountain, but I think Seventh Tree is just as good as Black Cherry. Alison herself admitted that she wasn't happy with Head First, and I don't think it's their best, but not a terrible album. But only contains 8 songs and 1 instrumental.

Haven't bought The Singles yet, will be getting it soon, looking forward to the single mixes and new tracks

Yes i'm torn on HF Seventh tree was the frst album i bought before going back to by their older ones and with Goldfrapp they introduce a new and unique sound but HF was a little safe very 80's and synth they were leading not following great album though

I see HeadFirst as a bit like Christina's Bionic. It had a good concept behind it, but it never lived up to the expectations, though isn't actually terrible.

Tell you what any Goldfrapp fan should add to "The Singles" and call it an extra new bonus track...
If you go into iTunes and search for Supernature (US Version) there is a track called 'Beautiful' which is absolutley amazing. I've added it to my Singles playlist, and sits perfectly.
