Bionic was a mess, Head First wasn't anything like it in any way.

As a big fan of 'alternative' pop, Black Cherry and Supernature are my favourite Goldfrapp albums. I loved Head First for the first few months but it wore off after a while for me. They're such a great band anyhow

Some of their best songs were never released as singles...

Felt Mountain and Black Cherry: truly fantastic...the others are not that bad either..
Felt Mountain is one of the best albums of its period, and Black Cherry is superb. The other albums have their strong points but Goldfrapp's first two ones are their best IMO. |

I like a lot of their singles but have never actually listened to a full album before. I know it's all down to personal opinion but which would people say is their best overall? Thanks

The only band from the 90s/00's to produce one stunning album after the other. And also to use each album as a platform to try out different production styles without ever sounding cliched/corny.
Great songwriting/great lyrics/loadsa pop hooks & Alison looks cool as fcuk! What more can a pop fan want?! |

Theres afew naysayers regarding Head First, but, personally, I think its amazing. Its also their 'sunniest'/feelgood album of the bunch.
Have fun discovering this group to the Op.

I like Head First, but it's too short for the type of album it is and they released probably the worst songs as second and third singles. Dreaming and I Wanna Life would have made better singles imo. The album was also rushed along by the label, if they let the pair do their thing in the studio a little longer I think this album could have been so much bigger and better.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what they come out with next though
