I love how in Corrie land characters can just be sacked from their jobs. Like Tommy from the garage, and recently Karl from Street Cars, all for personal reasons.

And shouldn't Dev of shut down his joint bank account after the separation.

Yep it IS ludicrous how someone can just be sacked from a job for nowt, but then, they all get a job within days of coming into the show.

And yes, the buying of the smoke alarms storyline is daft. Who is going to buy them?

Nah I think, (hoping) that tiny fireman installs one in Eileens house and there is a fire and either

a) It doesn't work and he is killed in the fire

I'm surprised we haven't had a rash of fires, now we have a real (pocket-sized) fireman on the street. In much the same way as we always get an increase in illnesses as soon as a new doctor is introduced.

It doesn't seem more than 5 minutes ago that Dev was facing bankruptcy, so I'm surprised he has that much in his current account anyway.
