Please could you tell me whether there is a way to send certain photos to iCloud.

I dont like the auto sync feature i would rather choose which photos to send to iCloud.

Nope, I think it is all or nothing.

Im hoping they sort this out pretty soon as i think icloud would be great if this feature is added.

it's not something that needs "sorted" as you say.
it's like that by design, it syncs everything.

iOS5.1 will bring the option of deleting individual photos from the photostream, but it won't bring selective syncing.
