One Direction all said they had a lot of input into their album and got the sound they wanted and even said no to some records.

Maybe Uncle Si is mellowing in his old age or too many pies to have all his fingers in

Sorry Little Mix fans that his thread seems to have been hijacked by Rebecca, Matt and 1D fans. But we are only trying to reassure you that the girls can have some input in the creative process.

And they co-wrote a few songs too.

Little Mix have been writing songs and they've already stated what they want their material to sound like.

I was lucky enough to get a preview of a couple of demos for the album. One was a cover of the Iron Maiden classic 'Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter'. The girls have stuck pretty close to the original musically and prove they've got some serious rock pipes - especially Jesy who drops a searing vocal. The other was an original written by Leigh Anne and entitled 'Chromium Slices of the Magellanic Cloud Pt 5'. This one was an extremely experimental piece of discordant electronica over which the girls shout Latin poetry through megaphones. It wasn't what I was expecting but should silence those critics who expect an album full of mediocre pop pap.

LOL that horse has definitely left the barn!

Has anyone else noticed how very quickly they completely ditched the X Factor veneer? Not only is Cannonball gone, but also their physical appearance. Completely vanished is that awful infantilized poofy prom dress/skirt costuming. Most noticeably, Leigh-Anne has been able to claw back her physical identity by growing out her hair and going back to her own color - including her skin. Now she looks like that take-charge girl from Greece.

I've also been impressed that although Cowell himself doesnt have a clue how to handle them, it seems Sony has more faith, allowing them a lot of creative input. They must be impressed to let some untried 18-20 year olds do that in the studio. In fact I wouldnt be surprised if LM switches over to Sony labeling directly more quickly than not.

I'm well north of 30 and used to bands that actually sang and harmonized without excessive electronic distortion (Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Chicago, Heart), so that's all I'm waiting for from this bunch and I'll be happy. Good to hear that from Gazmat.

About the post stating Simon doesn't let Little Mix have a say in the album, tbh I'm not so sure, I don't think Simon has actually met the girls yet, so it's like he doesn't even care too much. Hopefully, this will mean that the girls will get much more freedom than they would have got. And I don't think their music will be generic pop stuff, as they have stated million times now that "it's very different". The only concern for me is that I'm not sure if I can go into an HMV store and ask the staff "where's Little Mix's new single/album please". It feels a little bit embarrassing saying the name "Little Mix" being a 20+ .

All depends on the material really, I don't think their sound will be like Cher Lloyds for example. (This is not shade btw). But who are people to judge, you can like any type of music.

Little Mix still haven't met Simon yet, but maybe that's a smart move on either his part or the girls's part.

I guess their first single could decide their hole career. If song is as bad as 'Run for you life' and not catchy enough to attract new fans then they will follow Mr. Cardle way

Thats why Amazon is your friend

As I used Amazon to download and physically buy Cannonball, and I will be doing the same for when the girls release their new single(s) and album.

Little Mix ‏ @LittleMixOffic

Omgosh so excited for our first single! Hol tight #littlemixers eeeek! Leigh x
Sounds like things are moving along nicely.

I've never followed any girl group before, so is it normal for people to instill so much confidence into a group that hasnt yet released original material? I'm just reading comments from other music forums about The Saturdays' new single and even some of those fans seem to be ceding the way to Little Mix already. LM seem to be exuding an air of confidence effectively.

Can't wait for this! Someone on another forum said a friend of Jade's has heard the single and it apparently is 'full of harmonies'.

I'm going to politely decline as I roam around a bit, but one of them is a large forum and you can probably guess which one it is. I dont want to cause fan wars.

The rollout is beginning it seems. Here is the HarperCollins official press release about the Little Mix book due out in the Fall. I just noticed its the same game plan One Direction followed last year. I take it the sale date is to go hand in hand with an album release period?

I recognize those clothes in the photo. It must have been the start of the Tour. And not a damn prom skirt in sight, thank god.
