I'm having a hard time visualizing an original music video to accompany their single. Also wondering if it will come out with the single or much later. This should be interesting. I hope any video will be a little more thoughtful than "happy group of girls bouncing around aimlessly in the sun" like boyband vids are.

On a side note I checked out Dean Freeman's website as I am unfamiliar with his work and I saw that he did the Spice Girls back in 1998.

Quote:
The first of Dean Freeman’s books, Spice Girls, Forever Spice, plays a pivotal role in defining Freeman’s work; in fact it could be argued that with the completion of this project, Freeman discovered his own genre. It showcases Dean’s prowess at combining documentary and fashion photography, with images that are at once intriguing, beautiful and always relatable. Considering that the Spice Girls were at the pinnacle of their fame at the time, the photographs are startlingly frank and humorous. This is an affectionate, true to life portrait of the world’s biggest girl band, effortlessly capturing their ethos of fun, frolics and fashion.

The label/management a clearly using the same strategy they used for 1D - book, annual released around the rumoured album date.

Is The Daily Star a reliable source? They have been wildly inaccurate in past pieces.

LITTLE MIX felt like naughty schoolgirls when they were called in to play their new single to record company boss Simon Cowell.

The X Factor champs are halfway through their debut album.

After wowing London’s O2 Arena on Sunday, their mentor Tulisa, 23, popped in to say hello. Then I caught up with the girls.

Jesy Nelson, 20, told me: “We had a meeting with Simon three weeks ago so he could listen to the track, and it was like sitting in the headmaster’s office.

“We were so nervous before going in, it was surreal.” But the lasses didn’t need to fret as Simon, 52, gave them a hearty thumbs up.

Jade Thirlwall, 18, grinned: “He really liked it. He’s happy with the progress we’ve made in such a short time and just wants us to be as successful as One Direction.

“The album’s going to be so different. No-one’s expecting what it sounds like.”

Can’t wait to hear it ladies.
The meeting was documented by their own Tweets so that part is true.

^^^This seems reliable. More news apparently they have co-written their single!

Now this is how you keep SImon Cowell happy! LITTLE Mix are learning fast – they're following the advice of boss Simon Cowell....If they carry on like this...they will keep their record deal unlike some other BGT/X Factor winners from the past.

The X Factor winners have co-written and produced their first single after the music mogul told them the track wouldn't work without their personal input.

I'm not sure about this. People voted for Joe because they liked the artist he was on the live shows. When his album came out it was totally different to what people were expecting. I agree they should have a say in things, but it could be a mistake to wander too far from the Little Mix people voted for.

How funny I have also been thinking that they may be so innovative, that people wont "get it". The comment I have read a lot over the months is "I wanted them to win because they seem to bring something new to the table". However since they already ran it by Cowell and his taste doesnt really run towards the eclectic it must be ok. Part of the interest in them may be that people really dont know for sure what to expect.

When they say "different", I think they mean different from usual girlband songs, not different from what they were on XF because from day 1 they've made it clear that they would go for the urban route. They've also said it quite a lot of times now that it's gonna be pop/R&B/hip-hop all mixed into one (hence their name Little Mix ) and we know there's gonna be a lot of harmonies too, pretty much like what they did during the early stages of the XF, so I'm expecting songs like Superbass, I'm Like A Bird and Don't Let Go.

I'm happy that Simon is telling Little Mix to co-write their songs , not like how some people are saying that "you'll never have a say in your music if you're with Syco/Simon".

I'd love to peek into Leigh-Anne's notebook.

Does the group come off better financially if they get a co-writing credit?

Not a great move a summer release.

Singles sales are lower, and given their poor performance sales wise at Xmas.

I hold out little hope really. Marcus didnt do well with his first single and he came second, and I dont think that they are different enough. They were poor winners from a poor batch of contestants.

Marcus was never going to do as well as previous runners up and tbh I totally expect him to have lowest sales out of the top 4 last year. The sales figures of the winner single is understandable, it's an unbearable song, I like Little Mix but I'll never listen to that song.

Well according to a poster another forum...Syco wanted this song for the girls
Beat Dun Drop by Machines Don't Care

http://gotnoyeezyinserato.com/2012/0...beat-dun-drop/

If this is the kind of sound they want(it will be probably be with more of a pop edge) then I'm very excited about their material.
They have been in the studio with producers TMS who worked on Pro Green/Emeli Sande's 'Read All About It'.
(TMS are also working with Misha B).

Why am I reminded of how innovative the Pet Shop Boys were back in the mid 80s?

Um..... I don't know, it sounds more like a Misha song to me. I think they are more suited to Cher Lloyd's songs (With Ur Love, Want U Back).

If they find a balance between the two, then they could be on to a winner.

I agree, but I genuinely hope there isn't too much rapping, I would like to see them mainly focusing on the harmonies.

Let the single promo begin!

Article in The Sun which is surprisingly nice.

Quote:
But the thought of meeting one particular music mogul sent shivers down the girls’ spines — their label boss Simon Cowell. They met with the X Factor guru last month to discuss their music career.

Perrie said: “Meeting Simon was like waiting outside the principal’s office. We felt like naughty schoolgirls and were all so scared that we could hardly breathe.

“I don’t know why we thought Simon was going to be this monster. It was just amazing how normal he is.”
Expect a lot more interviews and photoshoots in the next few weeks. Anyone want to take a guess on when the single will debut?

I think it'll be out in late May or early June so that they could perform their new single on T4 On the Beach.

This is strange. The Daily Mail just now came out with a "new" promo pic but as can be seen from the hair, its definitely an old photo.

Article

They're determined to be good role models for millions of young fans.

And Little Mix have kept to their word in a new photoshoot against the backdrop of an urban setting.

Instead of dripping with expensive bling, exposing an abundance of cleavage and appearing to have had a date with the plastic surgeon, they remain largely covered up, opting for their unique creations.

No doubt I'll be wrong () but I am convinced that the winner/s shouldn't be forgotten for as long as has been the custom.

They should, imho, be striking while the iron is hot.

Already I feel that these girls are yesterday's news.

It's swings and roundabouts really. When the Winner's single was rushed out their were accusations that they were not taking the winner seriously and were just treating them as a cash cow.
Hence the change when Leona won.

On twitcam last night Perrie said the single should be out in July...
So they will probably premiere it at T4OTB.

This is what JLS did, release a July single.

I think they may have pushed the single back to work more on the album.

Time to change the thread title!

When people say the single is "out" do they mean the physical version to buy? Because I notice the usual schedule is to premiere the track online or radio weeks in advance, which might mean available to hear in June in this case. May was getting really crowded for new releases but I cant see waiting until July to even have a first listen.

Pushing the release back at least gives them a chance to have the video ready to go at the same time.

Soooo we've been at this photoshoot all morning and I'm still searching for the biscuits... so cool to be doing our own shoots! Xxjadexx
Throw off that X Factor styling girls!

New photo from somewhere

They look really good, except that Madonna seems to have replaced Perrie. Leigh-Anne is on fire.
