Why are Walkers the supposed be all and end all of crisps?
Everywhere I go from pubs to service stations to cafes. All you seem to get is Walkers crisps.
I must be one of the very few people who find this brand of crisps horrible and overated. For a start I think they taste greasy and they're the only make of crisp that gives me chronic heartburn. I don't like the texture as I find them very sharp and hard campared to Pringles or Seabrooks which are lovely and soft yet still crunchy. I also think the flavours are quite dull and some of the novelty flavours are just disgusting. Other brands have much nicer intense flavours and why oh WHY are they the only crisp manufacturer in the world who has to put cheese & onion and salt & vinegar in opposite colour packets? This does my head in! I just don't get why the market is literally flooded with this overated brand of crisp when there are other far more exciting ranges of crisps available including some of the home made crisp brands. Am I the only person who walks into a shop, cafe or petrol station wanting a bag of crisps to go with my sandwich and says, 'Oh no. Not sodding Walkers, AGAIN!' |

A lot of pubs around here sell Tyrrells as they are local, I presume some still sell walkers. Saying that I don't go into many pubs, just stick with a couple.
i not that impressed with Walkers to be honest, |

I'm not a massive fan of Walkers either. Although I don't mind their Cheese and Onion.
All about Kettle Chips for me, personally. |

I wouldn't know because I don't eat crisps as I find them horrible and over-rated full stop
![]() Although that wouldn't be strictly true - I do like Kettle Crisps to use for 'buffets' on occasions. I also like their vegetable crisps, particuarly when hung over

Well I still haven't forgiven them for robbing salt n' shake off Smiths and putting Golden Wonder out of business, taking monster munch and making them half the size in a smaller packet. I see now they're advertising their new bigger size packet which is just an excuse to charge more yet the contents are still the same.
It's a real shame that more people don't stock Seabrooks as I think as a general crisp they are far superior on texture as well as flavour. |

You can't really compare a crisp like walkers to pringles - pringles are reformed potato not a proper thin slice.
Not a fan of crisps generally but if I do eat them it has to be walkers ready salted, but as I say it's rare I fancy them at all. |

My favorite has to be Golden wonder, much nicer than walkers. A few weeks ago our Tesco got some cheese & onion Golden Wonder crisps in & they were going really fast but now sadly they have gone again so what was the point. I also tend to like the shops own crisps over walkers too.
I am trying to avoid crisps & go cold turkey as I am addicted to them & they have contributed to my weight gain.

Prefer Seabrook but can't find them. Tesco sold them but seem to have stopped now. May order a mixed box online but they charge £5 for delivery.

Exactly the same. Walkers is the brand name for crisps in the UK that are made by PepsiCo (yes....Pepsi!). They are known as Lays pretty much everywhere else and a few other names elsewhere.
I don't like Walkers ready salted though

I used to love Smiths crisps. Unfortunately Walkers have pretty much taken over the whole market, so what can you do?
It's a bit like how Pizza Hut took over from Pizzaland. Personally I used to prefer Pizzaland, but I suppose Pizzahut were just better at expanding their business. |

Tried McCoys but they're too thick and I feel like i'm about break my teeth on them. I wish Seabrooks were more readily available. |

I love their sensations- the perfect flavour distribution, not overcooked and a big bag so I can share without feeling that I am getting no crisps myself once my family have grabbed their usual ample handfulls. Sweet chilli, and balsamic vinegar and onions are perfect flavours in my eyes.
Walkers s n v crinkles are lovely too. |

the way things are going, in 10 years times we'll have one producer of crisps (Walkers), one for chocolate (Cadburys), one for cereal (Kelloggs), one for soft drinks (Coca Cola) and so on. Am glad I just about lived in a time when there was a bit of choice and competition in the World.
