Obviously The Beach Boys are an obvious and celebrated selection for this, to me their material never gets old, it still sounds really fresh. But recently I've been listening to a lot of newer music that really harnesses the art of the good ol' vocal harmony. The Civil Wars are one example, Grizzly Bear and The Pierces are others. Any suggestions of other groups I could give a try/ you've enjoyed?

Fleet Foxes? But imo you have already mentioned the very best exponents of vocal harmonies in the modern era - The Civil Wars. It's like their voices were made for each other.

I love the harmonies by the Civil Wars, First Aid Kit and obviously the Beach Boys. James Vincent McMorrow has some wonderful and very ethereal vocal harmonies on his album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4Bs4k5i5BQ&ob=av2e

The Staves also have beautiful harmonies. They're three sisters and IMO you can't beat that beautiful vocal blend you get when family members harmonise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0j8_Lrpd7E

I don't really enjoy their music, although I'm sure their harmonies are good.

I love Neil Young but I've never listened to him as a foursome so I shall give them a try.
