"About You Now" certification?

"About you now" by Sugababes has sold close to 500,000 copies in the UK but was never certified Silver, Gold OR Platinum... is there a reason for this?

the record company has to pay for certification to the bpi and sometimes the record company doesn't apply for certifications. or at least that is what i have read. the most recent example i can think of is `rihanna - we found love ft. calvin harris`. the track has sold over a million copies in the uk and is only certified gold status.

This is happening in Australia too. Adeles hits have been in the Top 50 for near on a year but haven't moved from 5x, 5x and 1x platinum since August.

I think it was mentioned. Island Records or whoever the label is need to apply for it.
