That AV app (& other AV apps on iOS) is purely for scanning for Windows & Mac malware, in case e.g. you have an email attachment on the iPad which could infect a PC. It's not for iOS viruses because there are not any (known) iOS viruses.

I think there's one already, called Wonga.
And Quickquid

You can only download apps from the app store which apple have already checked. If an app in the future ever managed to slip through the process apple can remotely remove it from every iOS device.
Wow I didn't know they could do that

Historically Macs had fewer viruses because creating a Mac virus would have had a much lower impact (far fewer users).
I don't think Macs are immune though, not any more. The amount of Mac users seems to be increasing so there could eventually end up being a lot more Mac viruses

OSX isn't a sandbox, so you can install Apps or Trojans from anywhere.
I hope it stays that way.

Yeah, apparently Google can too with Android... Neither company has actually done it though AFAIK.

I think that Google has done it before, due to a malware issue.

EDIT: Yes it has - http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/06/g...-of-malicious/

Ahh I wasn't aware of that, always handy to have that control to stop it getting out of hand.
