This really is getting beyond a joke

Two weeks of Xtra factor and oddly both weeks we get Rowetta sound checking but no-one else (ok, a little Cassie) and Simon extolling her virtues. Sheesh, even I blushed at such a glowing (read toadying) appraisal. Now, if Simon wasn't involved with the making of the show I could put it down to coincidence but do me a favour..

Something else that struck me - Isn't that weirdo with the blue/red/pink beard supposed to be Cassie's singing coach and yet I could have sworn I heard Ben Shephard (sp?) say that this was the first time he'd heard her sing this song? It's the night before the competition FFS, what EXACTLY is he employed to do?

Oh yeah and one more thing - when Tim let the cat out of the bag about Rowetta already having a contract he got a dirty/resigned look from Simon - Whoops Scotties!!!

Nasty smell of fix?

I agree, two weeks in a row and we get to hear Rowetta.

I'm a cynic at heart and can't help wondering how convenient that Rowetta gets to sing, Simon heaps on the praise, then we get to hear Cassie, who's voice coach is not happy. I think Simon would like Cassie out as he sees her as a contender for Rowettas crown.

The only shot in the foot was the comment about Rowetta having a record deal, it could put people off voting for her, after all if she is already guarranteed a contract it won't matter whether she wins or not.

I love Rowetta but do agree it was quite blatant on the Xtra-Factor. Simon knew too much had been said but Ben quickly reminded him it was too late. Far too much emphasis on Rowetta for my liking. Still love her though.

I think Rowetta has a great voice ( although I'm struggling to see a market for her) but I'm not sure this is doing her any favours TBH. It could have an adverse effect if people think she's being forced on them

Hmm I love Rowetta too and not seen the Xtra Factor but have noticed she's figuring above anyone else in the celeb mags- Now/Closer/Heat etc. Kinda made me feel for the others and this new info about telly coverage/a deal might just affect my voting decision tonight.....

It certainly did. She may have won FA2 but she would have done without the blatant bias towards her, but it certainly tainted my view of her and as I seem to remember scores of others on forums at the time. This will do Rowetta absolutely no favours, I agree with Satchmo it could have an adverse effect on her.

Don't bother voting for Rowetta she has her record deal - save your money or vote for someone else and give them a chance.

.....totally agree with you. I`ve just been speaking to some friends who adore Rowetta but after watching ITV2 last night, with the admission that win or lose she has a record deal, they say "why waste our money voting??"

I agree with what others have said and its all the more annoying for me because I can't for the life of me see what the attraction is with Rowetta. I find her voice really irritating I'm afraid .

Simon gets what Simon wants so as she's already got a deal whatever happens, why waste your money voting for her? How about we vote for Cassie instead because imo, she's the only one who doesn't belong on a cruise ship as some sort of sub-standard karaoke act.......

i think the "rowetta already has a record deal "is being taken a bit seriously on this site. imo it was said in the vein of "whatever happens she'll be a star".
also, i'm finding it interesting that no-one here is mentioning the real over plugging on last nights show...roberta. what the hell is going on, why is she still popping up on the show? why is she making and plugging her album that she is definately making with sharon.? for the first evictee of the show to be landed with an album etc a la sharon osborne is making a mockery of the voting process. why isn't everyone up in arms about that? it seems to me that this makes the winners deal a joke.... we vote them off only for sharon to give them a record deal

Yeah I agree, whats the whole point of having a talent show like this when the first act voted out basically lands a record deal? At least keep it quiet! Also dont they have to stick to some kind of contract saying they cannot produce any material until a certain time after the show?

I can't see why you're so annoyed. Isn't it normal to have the person who was last voted off on the following week's ITV2 show? I expect them to do this with all the acts.

Also, I can't see why other people other than the winner can't be offered a record deal. The contract they've all signed won't let them release anything for a while anyway so it won't detract from the winner (I have my doubts over a Roberta album happening anyway and it certainly won't be in a month!).

I agree with this whole Roberta overload rubbish. What is the point of having a show like this if they all get deals?

Simon was FUMING at Ro's manager saying she aleady had a deal. Why bother voting for Ro then? If for some weird reason Ro gets booted this week, I think Simon will boot that guy to Mars.

I wouldnt be supprised if they already have a song written with Rowetta in mind. Simon does seem very sure of himself. I think words would have been spoken between Simon and Rowettas new manager after their conversation with Ben. Glad that Ben picked up on it though. And next time they decide to bring in a Mystic Meg they should make sure she is at least impartial. Her gushing about Rowetta and more so Tabby was cringeworthy. Simon must have booked her.

i have a feeling simon has learnt from past mistakes. he knows what pushing just one act can result in...if looks could kill we would be attending the funeral of that manager.
for me i am enjoying simon more this year, and surprisingly am finding sharon a far more biased judge. imo if cassie performs like she did in rehearsals i think we could be saying goodbye to her and she may well have sharon's ridiculous over-acting to thank for it.

Yeah, that was ridiculous. Her psychic powers seemed to be very influenced by who she actually liked.....and since when was looking at people's star signs classed as psychic ability?

I did think the dry ice, dimmed light and 'spooky' green light shining on her face was genius though. Its the kind of attention to detail and high production values I've come to expect from ITV ( )

As much as I love Cassie and Sharon, I agree with you so much. Yeppers, I think Shazza has to calm down with the Simon war thing.

It's not helpful. It's just not 'doing anything' good for the whole thing.

I didn't see the prog. on ITV2 last night so can't comment on what was said re Rowetta, but I hate it when there isn't a level playing field for everyone. The winner should achieve the prize on their own merits whoever they are.

I still want Rowetta to win but why bother wasting my money if there's a contract with her name on it already.

I vaguely remember this subject coming up during PI2 and Simon said the only person guaranteed a contract was the winner as it diluted the winners success(or not ) otherwise.

So what if Rowetta will get a record deal anyway? She has an amazing talent and,on fame academy they said paris would definately get a record deal.where is his single/album then. Most of them will get record deals anyway,so vote on talent, not on sympathy for others who may not get a record deal

Paris was offered a number of record deals but didn't think any were right for him

I doubt that most of them will get record deals if past RTV shows are anything to go by.
To date only 3 people from FA2 got record deals.
As for the other shows I'm sure there are people more up to date on that than me.

I think Rowetta is brilliant. Definitely.
I never vote in sympathy. I'm too cruel for that.

Paris has recorded for an album by David Grant.

Rowetta deserves a record deal no matter what, and I think/hope that she'll do well out of it,

But I just hope people don't think shes bound to get through so don't vote for her
