Cher badmouths Madonna - Have you seen an artist dissing another?

Early 90's Cher is very rude about Madonna.

I saw a clip on TV some years ago, the lead singer of garbage said "F**k the Spice Girls"

These sort of unprofessional opinions bring shame on the industry. Have you ever heard / seen or are you able to post a clip of an artist bad mouthing another? Not something you have read in papers but actually got from the horses mouth?

It would be hilarious if popstars still dragged one another so unashamedly.

Well, them saying it would be hilarious, the media beating the drama to death would be dull.

As someone who grew up as a teenager in the 1980s ..... quite frankly I wish those days would return. FFS the likes of Smash Hits magazine would never have existed if it did not have one week Boy George slagging off George Michael, Duran Duran, the Thompson Twins; the next week Morrissey slagging off Paul McCartney, Cliff Richard, Dead Or Alive, U2, etc. The next week Bananarama slagging off Tears For Fears, Paul Weller, Phil Collins, etc .... Hence why the first Band Aid record was such a big deal, because it featured a bunch of pop stars whom at one time or another had slagged off a number of others within the same room.

Its one of the reasons why long running Talent shows BBC's Opportunity Knocks & ITV New Faces died out in the 1980s because the Simon Cowell's of their day Mickie Most, Tony Hatch & Nina Myskow bad cop act had become tired and sterile.

But then in the late 1980s came the dominance of Stock Aitken & Waterman and puppet popstars controlled by Pop Svengalis who increasingly relied on using Public Relation Officers to groom their puppets on what to say to not cause any offence meant in the 2000s when Simon Cowell reheated the talent show format with his blunt to the point comments a generation of viewers were seeing something they had not seen before, hence it became successful again.

In my opinion one of the key reasons why pop music is in such an awful bland state today is because 95% of acts have been PR'd to death being afraid to express an honest opinion about another act for fear of "stans" of that act retaliating, and having a negative impact on their record sales. Why any act that attempts to deviate from conforming such as in the past 5 years Lily Allen & Lady Gaga gets shot down in flames by keyboard warriors and internet entertainment news sites such as this because it is a great opportunity to generate traffic & views.

Oh my sweet Lord. Did someone somewhere at some point voice an opinion? We should clamp down on that. Stop free thought. Stop it now!

Even worse a nearly 20 year old free thought!!!!

I remember George Michael slagging off Tears For Fears, Howard Jones and Nik Kershaw. Kim Wilde saying Sheena Easton shouldn't wear leggings. Boy Geoge trying to out George Michael, Duran v. Spandau, Suggs from Madness v. David Sylvian from Japan. Those were the days.

That was in the days when popstars had more than half a brain.
