This is supposed to be their next choice of song.

This is bordering on farcical now.
Who's picking these f**king songs?
Louis?

Another classic ready to be packaged up and spat out of the G4 conveyor belt.

Another classic ready to be murdered by the mighty G4.

These choices of songs for them have got to be the most unsuitable choices that could be possibly be made for them.
It's as though Louis is expecting one of these great songs to carry G4 by it's own status.
Somehow hoping that by name association alone, G4 gain some "cool" credibility by singing songs with a certain inbuilt cool cred image.
A bit like an inbuilt insurance against the public "maybe" not accepting their "uncool" style.
And maybe he's thinking that at least one of them might come out right if he carries on with this farce.
I'm sure this usual odd mix of styles will yet again be sold on that old chestnut that what they're doing is so unique.
Won't wash with me Louis, you pug-faced little goblin.

It's almost as if Louis has this vision of performing an act of genius by pulling this off, and having the chance to claim the two marriages of styles is a stroke of genius on his part. As though he's dreaming of carrying out a masterstroke or something.

These choices of songs for G4 just look to be stupid. Pure stupid.

Another low-key, deep, introspective look at life, given the G4 jolly, cheesy, smiley treatment.

To me, this is another musical disaster on the cards.

Bad, bad choice, but I'll see how it goes on the night.
But they'll only have themselves to blame if Noel Gallacher meets up with them later and ends up kicking their heads in.
Give Louis a punch for me while you're at it Noel will you?

For someone who doesnt like G4 you do make a lot of posts about them lately. I actually enjoy reading your posts at times but its starting to appear almost like a campaign against them. I dont see many other threads with the singers songpicks for this week on but it may start a trend. I will wait to make my own mind up after hearing the performance tonight but you are correct - it is Louis picking the songs and G4 cant really do anything about that.
Louis would also have to get the rights to the song in the first place for G4 to be able to sing it. If Oasis dont mind then I am not sure why you do so much. It might turn out being a big mistake but some people are just not prepared to give them a chance.
I think it is a brave but dangerous choice of song. G4 arent stupid - they would have read some of the negative comments on here about last week just like the other acts and getting a song like this will be like red rag to a bull to those critics as your post proves. I wish them all the best.
I look forward to reading your comments after the show tonight though I can probably guess the tone of them.

......I have just been informed that The Three Tenors once sang Don`t Look Back in Anger at one of their concerts and it was sensational. I wonder if that`s why Louis picked this song. I will reserve judgement until I have heard it, but I still think even with a poor song they will sail through tonight.

Thats interesting. I would disagree that Dont Look Back In Anger is a poor song though. Its my favourite Oasis track. Might turn out to be a poor songchoice but I will wait and see tonight.

......sorry slip of the keyboard - meant to say song-choice.. It could well turn out to be a good choice, although the song doesn`t present much of an opportunity to hear Jonathan`s soaring vocals, but hey, we`ll have to see. By the way, nice little pic of the boys in this morning`s Daily Express, saying bookmakers are being bombarded with bets for them to win. Steve and Rowetta are now joint second favourite.

I really think G4 will spoil this song....I hope they prove me wrong, I really do...but I just can't see how they're gonna pull it off! I didn't like their version of Everybody Hurts and I think Don't Look Back in Anger will be even more difficult for them!

I think G4 might suprise a few people this evening. It's my personal feeling that they will be able to perform anything (within reason, let's not have people jumping on me with rap suggestions and the like please  )

But, while I can't complain about the length of posts (just as guilty I fear!) It does seem pretty evident to me that AM's mind has been made up about G4, whatever they do, however they perform. In fact I get the impression that, even if AM were to enjoy a G4 performance, the posts that follow would not reflect that. G4 have been dismissed out of hand.

For a bunch of 'smug, self-satisfied' blokes who deliver 'jolly, cheesy, smiley' performances, that are 'rubbish', they don't half stir up a lot of passion in our AM !

Sock it to 'em, boys

I'm interested to see what they do with the song. I quite like G4 but I'm a bit puzzled to where they are actually headed.

The song is chosen by Louis, as has been said, I'm wondering whether it's for a good reason or whether it's meant to be the tester that sees them off. But then I'm an incredibly cynical soul.

Ok I've been following the G4 debate and i notice if you say anything against them, you get alot of stick. Now surely this is the place to air ALL views, just as long as we are polite about it, so..

I have only watched their version of REM's Everybody Hurts and tonight's Don't Look Back in Anger (Oasis). My personal point of view, yes they can sing, but I absolutely hated what they did with Everybody Hurts. I thought maybe it was just one song, maybe it will be different with tonight's song, but no. My jaw actually dropped when the singer who sang the last line: "Don't look back in anger I heard you say", delivered it with a stage musical smile and a pointing at the camera gesture.

Some people love what they do, I respect their opinion, and I agree they can sing, but based on tonight and last week, it's not my cup of tea at all.

I think you put your opinion across very articulately I actually disagree with your opinion but I don't feel defensive about it because of how well you expressed yourself. It's much easier to accept a differing opinion when it's not expressed as being the "right" opinion, i think that's what leads to so much heated discussion that goes nowhere on this forum. I salute your eloquence!

I think G4 have a market, but what a terrible choice of song. Completely wrong IMO. I think their fan base is big enough to keep them in, but I only thought 2 acts were outstanding tonight.

If they are going to be marketed as different, then dont ruin classics.

I personally think G4 are a talented bunch of guys. The least talented one is LOUIS (prat) WALSH. This guy should stick to what he's good at - managing that other piece of trash ..whatzernames?

Anyway, what does prat actually know about classical sounds. He's making a mockery of these guys and trying to change or adapt their sound to fit into the pop charts. It won't work. He should allow these guys to sing their own stuff and be judged accordingly.

They'd be better off doing songs by the Beach Boys, and The Bee Gees. Bands that made use of their vocal harmony.

The real problem though is the insincerity in their faces when they sing these songs. They just look like a bunch of twits.

Completely agree JTW. That's what I meant to say...you've put it more eloquently.

I LOATHE Louis Walsh.

I agree with you, on both scores. I was going to disagree with the Fleetwood Mac suggestion, but then you removed it - LOL.
