Beyonce - Single Ladies
Rihanna - Umbrella Britney Spears - Toxic Christina Aguilera - Beautiful Ke$ha - Tik Tok That's from female pop stars. I don't think much else in recent years will become a classic to be honest, although I think some of Adele's songs will, and maybe stuff like Jar of Hearts and Empire State of Mind. |

None whatsoever. The last true classic was 'The Living Years' from 1989.

I mean, and this clearly IMO, I think that tune, by Mike and the Mechanics(?) is pants. So what is the magic formula that define/make's a classic-surely its subjective? You cant simply dismiss other peoples choices out of hand-unless there is a set of rules somewhere? Its like (although slightly off topic) NME declaring Lady Gaga as being pretentious, which to lot of fans into other stuff, is exactly how they would define the NME-including myself-but that doesn't make me necessarily right either. |

A classic, Leo, is a song that will still be played, loved and remembered long after it's initial success such as 'Imagine' or 'Bohemian Rhapsody', or a song that is universally known and loved by all generations. That, my friend, is the 'secret'.
Today's boring meaningless rubbish is nowhere. It nearly all sounds the same hiphop/urban dance trash or production line drivel. I'm not denying anyone the right to their tastes but most of the product out there is disposable here today gone tomorrow stuff to a degree not previously known. I'm no longer in touch with the charts as I can't relate to it. |

You're probably joking, but I could see it happening. It's still quite loved today by people who were the right age when it came out.
