Nanci Griffith has been going strong for many a long year but the Lone Star gal still packs a punch. Instead of checking out her back catelog why not dive straight into her new release "Intersections" ...it's easily as strong as her earlier works.

Thanks everyone, so far my favourite new artist people have recommend is Carrie Underwood although the girl from Lady Antebellum is hotter. Also the song "Over you" by Miranda Lambert is great, I am really happy people mentioned her too.

I know they have been mentioned but
Townes Van Zandt and Steve Earle are essential listening.

Others worth a listen,

Trisha Yearwood
Waylon Jennings
Dixie Chicks
Hank Williams
Alan Jackson
Reba McEntire
Johnny Cash
Plus many more

Dixie Chicks are awesome. Check out whatever the last live cd was because it's great! For some reason I find it hard to get into country music but for them I make an exception! And Garth Brooks maybe. Rope in the Wind I think his album was called. I think I like my country with a lot of rock! Lol.

We're a couple of years behind here in the UK, If I die young came out in 2010, we are at All Your Life is the latest song with a new album due out soon, we've only just had the first album released in the UK.

I'm surprised - nee shocked not to have seen Mary Chapin Carpenter mentioned.
I was fortunate enough to see her live at the roundhouse in 1997.

Absolutely, Mary Chapin Carpenter is up there with Steve Earle, Townes Van Zandt and Springsteen probably.

Mary Chapin didn't play The Roundhouse in 97 as far as I'm aware. Evidence please.
