I've been following this thread with interest and I'm actually going to stick up for Andy, as follows:
1) I don't think there's been an awful lot of criticism of Andy's attitude prior to this week. All of a sudden, one comment to the judges about how his song didn't fit with too much 'emoting' (which was basically true - I don't know how much more he could've done with it), combined with not being in the SO, and he's Public Enemy No.1. Going from 'OK' to 'horrible, dork, deluded' etc in the space of one show is very unfair.
2) Comments about him being deluded to Craig Kelly standards aren't fair. Andy is doing what he's been given to do fairly well - very well, a couple of weeks. Craig did what he was given to do badly, and then complained of low marks. I can think of at least two routines Andy's done that I've enjoyed, which I could never have said about Craig.
3) That choice of music was responsible for a lot of the problems. Talk about a mid-tempo disaster. It's not like they couldn't have picked an Oasis song that would be well-known and is a bit more up-tempo - I can think of half a dozen hits that might not have been perfect but would've worked an awful lot better than DLBIA.
Do I think Andy should have been in the SO? Yes.
Do I think he probably should've kept it buttoned? Yes, probably.
Do I think he's been kept in the running by the Corrie vote? Yes.
Do I think he's an arrogant, horrible thicko?...No, no and no.
Do I think T&D really need to rethink their musical choices on occasion? Yes yes yes yes yes.
