It isnt just corrie fans who are voting for the wooden, mouthy oik,
the Planet Ice Rink in Miton Keynes are pushing on facebook for all their skaters to vote for them as Vicky Ogden comes from there, I guess people just vote thinking they are voting for her not the lumbering idiot she is skating with.

He is unbelievably rude and has a distorted sense of his own ability. Someone should put him right.

Its not all Coronation street fans voting for him!
I'm a huge fan of Corrie but no way would I vote for Andy.
He is the weakest skater there.
I cant believe that Sam went out over him last night.
And for Chico to be in the bottom two. Unbelievable.

Last year Denise (and Johnson) sailed through while Vanilla Ice and Laura ended up in the skate off

Team Challenge week Denise was propelled into third place (while Laura, at the top, was safe) and ended up in the skate off. So next week I'm expecting Chico to finish top, Andy to be third, and hopefully the same thing will happen again

Hate when voting comes down to popularity and not skating ability. He does what is required without any oomph or finesse, can't believe we are losing people far far better (and more likeable) than him.

Having said that, I really am in no position to moan because I didn't vote for the people I DO like. More's the pity.

God knows! I'm a Coronation Street fan but I wouldn't vote for Andy just because of that - he has always been a rubbish actor (he was the same in The Royle Family) so wooden and with only one facial expression.

He was definitely the worst last night and deserved to go - I wonder if he feels even slightly guilty that someone half decent went before him?

I really think a lot of people post on here without reading other posts.

Above I have said that Planet Ice Milton Keynes are running a campaign to get everyone to vote for Vicky because she comes from there.
People are voting for Vicky Ogden not Andy.

It's that old Anthony Cotton IACGMOOH syndrome raising it's ugly head again. I actually love Corrie - or did, this over-voting for very poor, unpleasant characters from that soap is beginning to make me see it in a different light. Andy is atrocious, both in word and in deed on DOI. I really am starting to wonder about the sanity of the GBP that actually pick up and PAY to vote for him. He has to go, now, I would be distraught if I had been eliminated before him!!!

If you're referring to me, I had read your earlier post. Doesn't mean I can't reply to a different post.

And anyway, I can't believe that Milton Keynes skating rink has that much sway over people - the competition isn't anything to do with the professional skater, it's the "celebrity" we are supposed to be voting for. Who would remember the skating partners of all previous winners? Certainly not me.

No I wasnt particularly referring to you, you can post what you like.
Since the beginning there has been a facebook campaign from Planet Ice to vote for Vicky and Andy. The skaters at Planet Ice will know Vicky Ogden as she has skated there for years.
It isnt meant to be about the professional skater but just like on SCD professionals get a fan base over time.
Planet Ice hs been hammering it home since the start.
We know it is supposed to be about the celeb but it is naive to think that the professionals count for nothing. Daniel Whiston has a big fan base too.

Shame because the rink must see what a dork Andy is but I guess they dont care.

OK Elizabethjo, no probs.

Jeff Brazier was just saying on This Morning that he thought Andy's outburst was probably what saved him with the public a) because people agreed with him or b) to get back at the judges. He also thought Andy saw Robin's remarks as an insult to his acting skills.

Although what acting skills they would be, I don't know.

It's not about that, though. It's about people wondering why anyone would like someone who comes across as deluded and arrogant as Andy does. I can understand when people like Todd Carty keep getting through because they're actually likeable, but I honestly can't understand what anyone would find likeable about Andy. If anyone wants to explain it to me beyond "I like him/his character in Corrie", I'm all ears...

I've been following this thread with interest and I'm actually going to stick up for Andy, as follows:

1) I don't think there's been an awful lot of criticism of Andy's attitude prior to this week. All of a sudden, one comment to the judges about how his song didn't fit with too much 'emoting' (which was basically true - I don't know how much more he could've done with it), combined with not being in the SO, and he's Public Enemy No.1. Going from 'OK' to 'horrible, dork, deluded' etc in the space of one show is very unfair.

2) Comments about him being deluded to Craig Kelly standards aren't fair. Andy is doing what he's been given to do fairly well - very well, a couple of weeks. Craig did what he was given to do badly, and then complained of low marks. I can think of at least two routines Andy's done that I've enjoyed, which I could never have said about Craig.

3) That choice of music was responsible for a lot of the problems. Talk about a mid-tempo disaster. It's not like they couldn't have picked an Oasis song that would be well-known and is a bit more up-tempo - I can think of half a dozen hits that might not have been perfect but would've worked an awful lot better than DLBIA.

Do I think Andy should have been in the SO? Yes.
Do I think he probably should've kept it buttoned? Yes, probably.
Do I think he's been kept in the running by the Corrie vote? Yes.
Do I think he's an arrogant, horrible thicko?...No, no and no.
Do I think T&D really need to rethink their musical choices on occasion? Yes yes yes yes yes.

I'm sure all the pro's "home" rinks have similar campaigns, so I doubt that has a major impact to be honest. Especially as it is doubtful that anything other than a very small percentage of public voters have been on an ice rink outside of a school trip.

@Lorelei. Did you not watch week 7's show, or read the forums here last week? There was plenty of criticism of Andy moaning about his scores being too low/unfair then too. It isn't a new thing this week.

Personally, I felt that Andy was over-praised in the early weeks and while encouragement is good, it would appear that perhaps this (over)praise led him to believe he is better than he is?

Is that plank still in it? I couldn't watch I'm A Celeb because of that hidious Cotton creature and I can't watch Shouting On Ice because - well, a few things but yet another Corrie actor (especially thick Kirt or whatever it's name is) was one of them. I absolutely loathe and detest Corrie.

Preferably out of the competition.

That is the rudeness I loathe in a person. He came over as surly and arrogant. Does it not percolate his brain that Kati and Robin know what they are talking about and have had to act in their routines when skating. He should watch Kati's Carmen routine - that was acting!!

And if he can't take criticism what is he doing in a soap opera where if you don't act you surely should be hauled into the producers office and told to get your butt along to some drama workshops

Devil's advocate here but if Andy does go out will there be complaints that the show is (more?) boring? Be left with very good but mainly bland skaters? His awfulness is I suppose adding interest and the odd argument or stand-off never seems to go amiss in entertainment stakes. The cat fight between Karen and Katarina is now apparently off as they are best friends so are Andy's tantrums the only bit of 'excitement' if you can all it that remaining.

Devil's advocate as I said

I like Andy and don't find him arrogant at all............I like him becuase he is 100% ego free and also very unfashionable.....unless I am very much mistaken he is a much better skater than Sam but miles behind the 2 leading men Chico and Matt......

IMO his unfashionableness shows itself in his low marks and negative comments whereas someone who is fashionable like Sam always seems to get encouraging comments despite iffy performances.

No arrogance or ego but standing up for himself.

I see what you're saying - but I found the competition more enjoyable with Sebastian and Sam still in it.

Andy must go

We nearly lost Chico tonight because people are voting for that idiot, Sam going was bad enough.

Why are you voting for him”

I am a big Corry fan but I would most definitely not vote for him!
He is talentless and brings nothing to the party and much better skaters have gone, it's a travesty! Only good thing is that we are really getting down to the cans and the can'ts so logistically he shouldn't last much longer, hopefully as soon as he is in the skate off he's gone.

Are you kidding - his ego was in evidence last night - he can't take constructive criticism from two Olympic champions. I don't know what he is being told by his little CS clique but I would be more interested in impressing Robin and Kati rather than Fizz and Antony Cotton

It's hardly that. Some people watch a soap and decide to support one of the actors . Result he stays a bit longer than better skaters so now he's public enemy no.1. The World's gone Mad and life as we know it will never be the same.

He's not as bad as Todd Carty or and he stayed a while.

It's Chicken Licken all over again. Reach for your hard hats, they sky's falling in.

So you don't like him. Others do and vote for him.

Get over it or grab a hard hat 'cos the sky is falling!
