Beyonce 4- Best pop vocal album, Album of the year.

Absolutely disgusted that her best album in terms of quality was ignored!

Have no idea why, as her album with heads and shoulders above most of the other nominees.

Was happy in the end though as the right album deservedly won!

In YOUR opinion, but not others.....obviously. You state it as though it is fact.

Leona Lewis was the "Adele" of 2008 around the world, but especially in the UK and the US. Not as much success as Adele but still the biggest star in the music industry and broke a lot of records. And yet, whilst Adele picked up six Grammy's, Leona didn't even get one out of the three she was nominated for. It was an absolute joke.

As has been said before, quantity isnt always quality and it is JUST some peoples opinions, albiet the ones who hand out awards. Not a joke.

The biggest piss take of her success was she was beaten by Kate Nash for Best Female at the Brits.

No offence i agreed wholeheartedly may not be as good a singer but she wrote the bulk of her own album which was a million times better than the bland filler on spirit and kate didn't go down the x factor route for me stands to reason.

And Mariah Carey won best new artist

For me big controversy Whitney not winning best new artist as she had done a duet already with someone same as gaga at the 2010 Grammy's as the fame had been released in 2008 so was therefore iboth were ineligible to be nominated fast forward to 2010 Esperanza spalding beating the likes of Florence even though she had released 3 albums same as this year with bon iver who rleased his seconnd album last year they are not new that category seems to be able to be moulded to the panels whims which is unfair.

Each to their own

I very much agree with your last paragraph. It seems you can release several albums and still be classed as a new artist. Weird

I remember the Grammys failing to nominate The Spice Girls for any awards back in 1998 even though the group had the best-selling album of the year in the US, their singles Wannabe and Say You'll Be There had both broken the Beatles' previous record for highest debut positions on the US chart etc.

For the biggest pop act in America at the time to not be nominated for a single award, even in the pop categories, caused something of a stir - I remember the headlines about how 'out of touch' the Grammys were.
It didn't help that the American Music Awards were the following day and the Spice Girls swept the board.
But back then the Grammys really didn't seem to recognize pop acts unless they were deemed as 'credible'. But fast forward to the following year when pop acts like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and N*Sync were all nominated for awards to try to avoid a repeat of the 'out of touch' allegations.
Though by 1999 the Spice Girls were slipping off the radar anyway.

Madonna's Like a Prayer was never nominated for best album which I think was ridiculous
