Android market downloads unsuccessful

Hello

I've recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570. It's my first smartphone and I'm still trying to get to grips with it. When my sister helped me set it up on Sat, she downloaded some apps from the Android Market for me and it all seemed fairly simple. I've tried to download some more this morning and every time I try, I get an error message saying 'Download was unsuccessful, please try again'.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated (but please bear in mind, I am in no way technical so need things explaining simply!) If I had known these things could be so complicated, I'd have stuck with my stone age phone! x

Have you got a data plan and a good connection ? were they previously downloaded using wifi ?

I promise that it shouldnt be complex

The ones on Sat were downloaded using a Wifi connection at my parent's house, the ones today are (trying) to be downloaded using wifi at work. It shows full signal and says it's connected, so I didn't think there should be a problem. I do get 500mb of data every month though and as I've only had the phone since Friday, I'm sure I couldn't have used it all! x

If you've downloaded and installed a few apps already, it's possible that you've used up the internal storage on your phone, or maybe one of the apps is too big for what you have left.

Go to Menu > Settings > SD & Phone Storage and see how much 'Internal' storage you have left. If any of the apps you're trying to install is about the same size or is larger than what you have left, then the download/install might not work.

Then go to Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and look at the apps you've already installed. Tap on them one by one and you may see an option called Move to SD card. If it's available, go ahead and do it. That will still allow you to run the apps, but it'll free up some space!

Enjoy your new phone.

Thanks. I've checked internal phone storage and there is 119mb left. I checked apps and the majority of them must be on SD card as the option is to move them to the phone. Any that had option to move to SD card, that is greyed out so I assume not an option.

I was hoping these phones would be easy to use but it just seems like one big headache at the moment!! x

It'll take a little bit of getting used to, but the benefits of having a mini computer with you at all times are many. Once you've got used to it, you'll love it.

Thanks for your help! Tried again at home using 3G last night and apps were fine. Tried a couple at work again this morning and again all was fine. Must have just been a problem with work wifi yesterday.

I'm sure I will get used to it, it's just a lot more complicated than I thought it would be! x
