XL/Columbia’s Grammy-winning phenom Adele is #1 for the 22nd time in a little more than a year since the album’s release, chalking up another 292k to bring her remarkable total over 7.6 million, 1.8 million of them since Jan. 1. Our crack retail staff predicts the album will go over the 3 million mark for the year by Memorial Day. Her debut album, 19, is now at #7.

I think Memorial Day in the US is May 28
Predicting over 3 million by May 28 for 2012?! That is incredible. You know why? Because if that happens then 21 will have sold almost 9 million in the US before summer starts! OMFG! Diamond is ten million. Wow. Just wow.

And two years in a row at number 1 on both the worldwide chart and the US chart is looking better and better. As pointed out, only Thriller has done it in the states and no one has done it worldwide before! (since Media Traffic started keeping stats). Of course before 21, ten weeks at number 1 was the longest record worldwide! She will have 35 weeks number 1 worldwide on Friday. Geez...
Yes, Memorial Day is May 28. And let's be honest here, we all know that 21 will be diamond eventually in the US. It's just a matter of when not if. If her sales are as consistent as they have been, I can see her passing 10 million in the US by Memorial Day itself!

Yeah. It can get brutal outside the appreciation thread. Just really bitter about her success over their favs.
Sad, really. If you don't like her, don't listen. Simple.
People like to build their stars up and pull them down.
i bet most of those vehemently saying they don't own it are the same ones who regularly ask if there's anyone left who hasn't bought it yet

More bad news for them. From NS. I heart you!

UK Mids

21 #1
19 #9

The seemingly unstoppable Adele continues to blaze through chart achievement after chart achievement.

The Official Charts Company yesterday confirmed that the singer/songwriter’s second album 21 has overtaken Michael Jackson’s Bad to become the eighth biggest selling album of all time in the UK. As if that wasn’t enough, Adele’s lead in today’s Official Albums Chart Update also now puts her on course to spend her 22nd non-consecutive week in the albums top spot. Combined with the one week she spent at Number 1 with her debut album, 19, another chart-topping week would see Adele this Sunday overtaking music legend David Bowie in the number of career weeks spent at Number 1 in the Official Albums Chart.

Both David Bowie and Dire Straits have to date amassed 22 weeks in the albums top slot, Adele is set to score her 23rd this weekend if she maintains her lead. It is The Beatles who currently hold the UK record with an astounding career total of 174 album weeks at Number 1, and in terms of female solo artists, Adele only has Madonna to beat now, who is just ahead at 29 weeks.

It's true Charlie! I was a closet stan for years. It feels great to finally be out in the open about it! I stan for Adele and I don't care who knows it! I picture myself leaning out over the Titanic with my arms open wide when I say that! Lol.

Geez, you were at death's door Charlie! Dang! Glad you are feeling better! My meeting was frustrating and not overly productive. But thanks!

Btw, Konebyvax was banned for a few days. Surprising. That guy is a British gentleman through and through. Although I've seen some American sass coming through in recent months. I'm guessing he was defending someone's honor.
Hope he sees the post I left for him on another thread!
We will be thinking about you Koney!

ONE DAYS
Look for Adele's 21 to spend her 23rd week atop the album charts next week, and it might be her last one for now with Columbia labelmate Bruce Springsteen’s Wrecking Ball set to hit retail next Tuesday (3/6).

Bit in Bold. I laughed my head off. Thanks

Yeah, I'm feeling a lot better thank you. I still have the tail end of it, but at least I can finally get back to work. I couldn't sit at home staring at the four walls anymore even if I tried!

I miss Koney

From NS.
YTS totals in the UK. Album sales. She's going to pass LDR. Which is how it should be! Lol. This is Adele dammit! But it will be interesting to see how the year pans out.

19 - Rebecca Ferguson - Heaven - 67200
20 - Rihanna - Talk That Talk - 66000

Now here is the YTD top selling albums in the US. Interesting to note that Adele is featured on three on the top five! But look at the difference between one and two! That's how Adele rolls!

Rank Sales TITLE Artist
01 1,825,530 21 Adele
02 414,600 THE GREATEST HITS Whitney Houston
03 289,733 NOW 41
04 274,780 DCOT Van Halen
05 250,616 2012 GRAMMY NOMINEES Various
And finally, to get BB calendar year totals, add 1.26 million to Adele's number above!
21 is at 3,086,000. Or somewhere close to that number anyway! With BB year ending on last day in November, 21 will be hard to catch.

Rihanna on Adele (from Jonathan Ross):

As she looks for love now she says she has been listening to Adele’s break-up album 21, but has sometimes been forced to turn it off because it reminds her of her own relationship problems in the past.

The 24-year-old said: “Really I came to the Brits to stalk Adele. It was nothing about the awards or the performance, for me it was just to see Adele again.

“She doesn’t know the depth of my affection, just the surface. She has no idea.

“It’s hard to say a (favourite) track. The last album 21 just spoke to me so much. To the point where I had to stop listening to it cos it was depressing me so much.

"You become so attached to the stories, it’s really something you identify with.”

Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" has become the biggest-selling digital song of all time by a woman in the U.S. -- and the second-biggest overall.

With another 99,000 sold in the week ending Feb. 26 according to Nielsen SoundScan, "Rolling in the Deep's" cumulative sales rise to 6.68 million, surpassing Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" (6.62 million) to become tops among all female-led tunes.

"Rolling in the Deep" is now second among all digital songs, only to the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" (7.82 million). "Poker Face" falls to third place.

Since SoundScan began tracking download sales in 2003, a total of 26 songs have shifted at least 5 million in the U.S.

As for the rest of the top 10 downloads of all time: Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" is the fourth best-seller, with 6.53 million, while the Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" is fifth with 6.34 million. LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" is sixth (6.26 million), Flo Rida's "Low" is seventh (6.23 million), Ke$ha's "Tik Tok" is in eighth place (6.22 million) and Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" is ninth (6.02 million). Rounding out the top 10 at No. 10 is Taio Cruz's "Dynamite" with 5.90 million.

another record she has broken

Guys why not enjoy discussing Adele and her music rather than post numbers after numbers after numbers? Everytime i get into this thread I can't help but get amazed at how it seems you only care about her sales/chartings!!!

Enjoy her and her music and talk about future album ideas, what you want to hear, collaborations, just anything that doesn't involve numbers...

Take care

I rarely see it on other threads, and when I see it, it's not to the extent of this thread.

Honestly I am not trying to bash anyone saying this. I love Adele to bits. I just wanted to mention things am seeing in here.

Well seeing as shes smashing every sales record in sight, its not surprise we are talking about how well shes doing.
I really dont see what your problem is and anyway, this is an appreciation thread and not the place for this. You could start a new thread expressing your concerns.

Last time you were in this thread you were bashing Adele because she likes Beyonce.
There are other threads for this sort of thing.

No. I love reading all these figures on Adele. Its a celebration of her success! Why would we not mention the fact that she has broken another record? It doesn't make sense not to.
