Hotelier, you are just a baby! You obviously write thoughtful posts since I thought you had way more. I'm going to just start calling this my blog! Charlie, you are right behind me (nothing but the facts!). I'm pulling for you!

Since I'm now condensing posts lets go into Adele news:

Music Week is congratulating Adele and 21 on selling 21 million copies. Obviously that's a shipped total but still. It's a great number to see! I would have expected that 21 would be settling down to 75k a week in the states. Instead it's caught fire and is on autopilot. It's like a snowball effect happened here. I hope she can grab number 1 again. I love that 21 has been the only number 1 album of 2012.

In a way it has, but in a way it hasn't. According to Wikipedia (yes, I know!) Billboard publish their charts with an issue date 10 days in advance usually. (It's March 8 today, but the current week for sales data is March 17. Don't ask why.) Buble grabbed one week at the beginning of the year (w/e January 7), although the published date on the Billboard article at the end of this article is December 28 2011. So, 21 has been the only #1 of 2012, but it hasn't, if that makes sense.

And I demand that your blog, as you're now calling it, is shared by me. That is all.

Mediatraffic

1 Adele - 21 9
XL Recordings - 429.000 - 36 weeks at No.1

6 Adele - 19 2
XL Recordings - 71.000

'21' YTD total = 4,005,000

'19' YTD total = 637.000

Madness, lol.

* Thanks to arab on UKMix for these figures.

4 million ww?..already?!. 10 weeks into the year. Thats enough for number 4 on last years end of year chart! and we are only at the start of March.
Apparently Adele has now sold 52 million records(combined albums and singles) world wide according to the this forum. I'm not sure how accurate that is though. Anyone have a verifiable source?. I asked the question on ukmix, but noone answered....

From HDD:

In one of the closest races we've seen for #1, Bruce Springsteen gets a slight edge over Adele in the battle for the top of next week's chart. Here's how things look at midweek:

*Bruce Springsteen (Columbia) 210-220k
Adele 21 (XL/Columbia) 210-220k

Adele 19 (XL/Columbia) 25-28k

Apparently so. That's why I'm coming round to the belief that sales ww this year (and certainly in the US) will be more than in 2011. Which would be the definition of crazy

I know, its just unreal!.
Do you think the 52 million estimate of combined albums and singles is accurate?.(thats sales , not shipments).

It wouldn't surprise me at all (it may even be a conservative figure!). I think the amazing arab on UKMix gave a figure a month or 2 back, I'll see if I can find it.

Yay. Yes, embrace the craziness, it's worked for me in the past. 'Proper' chart experts are rubbish at predicting this album because they just can't think outside the box! This album just isn't selling to historical precedents so it gives a chancer/amateur like me the chance to show up the experts. I can't deny loving doing it

Adele had sold 3,989,000 WW by 14th April last year. thats about 11weeks after album release in the UK.
It's just incredible shes already sold over 4 million of the same album in just 10 weeks of this year.!

Interesting snippet. I discovered that royalties for songs that are co-written are paid in order of whoever is named as a writer on the credits, with the person who contributed most to writing the song listed first, and others subsequently.
Guess who has first credit on ALL the songs on 21 that aren't covers.
Lays to rest the myth that she 'may only have contributed a word', as few others were so fond of saying.

I love this. It somehow must come up in a thread other than this one. I did note that it was just her and Paul Epworth named on RITD for record of the year. Bruno had like ten people. Mumford and sons had their five or six. Bon Iver and Adele had the least.

Not sure if this has already posted here, can't remember it anyway!

21 is now 15x platinum in the uk. The highest amount of platinum!! It's official too, I saw it on wiki but double checked it on bpi! How exciting, and in just over a year!

Sorry if it has already been posted!

So umm, John Mayer didn't have what Adele had right?! Cause he's got his problem back. Ouch. Considering that Adele's doctor gave her the all clear, I'm guessing they didn't have the same thing.

So I'm now waiting for new mag spread in Bazaar to come out. Have you guys seen the pics?

Hey guys, could someone tell me where 21 sits in current WW sales? And what number it could realisitcally top, thanks!

21+ million shipped (which is the figure used in all the all time best selling lists). I've already nailed my colours to the mast and predicted she will outsell 2011s sales ww in 2012 so that would be probably 33 million shipped by year end. Sounds crazy, I know, but this is Adele and '21'....

According to this list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...selling_albums

That would put her in the Top 15. I have no way of verifying those figures in that list, btw, but i have been told by people who seem to know what they are doing chart wise that the figure for Thriller is ridiculously over-inflated.

PS the most recent album in that top 15 list is 15 years old!

I'm stunned that Ace of Bass sold 23,000,000.

How the hell did we let that happen?
