Wonder what the sales are for this week, surely an increase but by how much!
Maybe pushed past to 6th best selling album of all time, or might have to wait another week for that.

those are the figures i'm most interested in. It'll be a great day when it passes What's the story and Thriller. After that i won't care anymore

She's clearly going to top that list at some stage, isn't she? This album is less than 14 months old FGS!

I think after christmas this year we'll get a better picture of if she'll be able to get near #1. I don't know personally as the sales have slowed down a lot and only perk up a bit, even with some promotion. I think 5 million is inevitable though.

so should pass Thriller within 4 or 5 weeks. And Oasis by the end of summer.

second best selling studio album behind Sgt Pepper i could live with, i don't mind letting the Beatles have that but I think She'll take it one day.

From NS.

http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-...ms-chart-1207/

The Official Charts Company can reveal today that Adele’s 21 has overtaken Pink Floyd’s 1973 epic, The Dark Side Of The Moon, in the UK’s all-time biggest selling albums chart. The news comes just three weeks after the London-born singer’s 2011 second album overtook sales of Michael Jackson’s Bad.

21 has now sold over 4,142,000 copies in the UK, making it the seventh biggest-selling album of all-time. However, with just 12,000 sales separating 21 from the Number 6 album, Dire Straits’ 1985 long player Brothers In Arms, Adele could easily overtake the British rockers by the end of this week.

"As every week goes by, another record seems to tumble in front of Adele," comments the Official Charts Company's Managing Director, Martin Talbot. "Now, her 21 album has overtaken The Dark Side Of The Moon in the all-time biggest sellers list - and by the end of the week, it may well have overtaken Brothers In Arms, too. Then she will have Michael Jackson's Thriller in her sights. It has been an extraordinary 12 months or so for Adele, and it looks set to become even more extraordinary as the days and weeks go by."

The biggest selling albums of all-time Top 10 now stands as follows:

01 GREATEST HITS – QUEEN 5,864,000
02 SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND – THE BEATLES 5,045,000
03 GOLD: GREATEST HITS – ABBA - 4,992,000
04 (WHAT'S THE STORY) MORNING GLORY? – OASIS 4,520,000
05 THRILLER - MICHAEL JACKSON 4,272,000
06 BROTHERS IN ARMS - DIRE STRAITS 4,154,000
07 21 – ADELE - 4,142,000
08 THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON - PINK FLOYD - 4,116,000
09 BAD - MICHAEL JACKSON - 3,960,000
10 GREATEST HITS II – QUEEN - 3,888,000

Things are going to get interesting when 21 passes Thriller in UK sales. It will be a little hot for a few days to say the least! But sales of 21 will be helped!

it will be carnage on many forums for a few days, shades. We had a taster of what will happen when '21' had the temerity to pass the sales of 'Bad'. Multiply that reaction by at least 10! I even saw some MJ stans accuse the OCC of racism FGS!

21 only needs to get 130k more to pass Thriller. I reckon she'll do that by summer, Autumn at the latest.

There's some good promo for Adele coming up (her songs are bound to be featured on The Voice/Britain's Got Talent etc)

HDD is sometimes wildy innacurate on the first chart(54%) as they may not have most of the major outlets sales at that point.

Anyway...Adele has sold more than DSOTM!!??...in just over a year!. DSOTM is one of my fav albums of all time!!...I'm so pleased that its been overtaken by a talented and worthwhile artist.

You won the posting wars!
So it's between the Hunger Games soundtrack, the Shins and 21 next week. After that I don't think 21 will have a chance for #1 again until middle of April.

Mediatraffic only count sales from 10 countries, I believe. Don't take my word for it though.

Mediatraffic seems to be the most reliable and the guys that put that list together are sharp. Btw, 21 will now be 55 on that list since sales are over 20 million (it's the most recent release and should leapfrog the other 20 million sellers. lol). Wiki has it at 53 right now, but that's a step above gossip.

Mediatraffic doesn't count every country, that's true but it has to be more than ten?!

Edit: Here is world chart numbers for 21. Thanks to NS!
