She was one of the biggest stars on earth a few years ago, now I don't know where she has gone.

I loved 'White Flag'.

Didos, like their close relatives, are now extinct.

Maybe she got her money and retired in her twenties. Good on her. Wish I'd done that instead of a boring office job.

She stood next to a beige wall and disappeared...

sad times.

She sprogged last year, a boy, Arthur or Stan or Fred or something,

she did a one off song with a.r. rahman for the movie `127 hours` and that was nominated for an oscar last year. she also had a baby last year, so i suppose she`s enjoying motherhood at the moment.

On all accounts she is gonna start writing again, really hope so, the UK seriously needs a decent quality solo female singer like dido.

Whilst from 2005-2008 and her comeback we had Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Adele, Laura Marling to name but a few who are inately more interesting and less drawling Dido is my go to when i feel depressed somehow i feel better afterwards i wonder why

Anyway she has never been that intersting and her pivital success was the public liking nice bands with nice music like Coldplay promblem with Dido she waited to long for a new album and we forgot about her and got better more talented and less dull people in the interim like Amy Winehouse.

She was meant to be in the middle of a new album but having just had a child probs won't materialise quite soon which is a shame as on occasion she makes good backround easy listening.

I don't think she really cares about music or living the celeb lifestyle anymore. She made her many, many multi-millions and is just living life and being a mother now as an incredibly wealthy and privileged women. She is supposed to be recording a 4th album but I wouldn't be surprised if that didn't come to anything for years.

I think I read a report a couple of years ago that her record label were suing her because they had this massive artist who wouldn't record anything and she was breaching her contract. Can anyone remember that?

I remember her song Thank You. It was played everywhere! Can't say I was a fan though.

Laura Marling is better than Dido in my opinion. They are both different though.

Like many people I dont really know much about laura Marling but dont think she has done enough to even be talked about alongside dido. I only know one amy whinehouse song and duffy I could not even name a song and dont even get me started on my views on adele.

I certainly think there has been a big hole in the UK market since Dido stopped making music, just would like to see her writing again and of course she had a voice of an angel.

Well as you so often say sales are not everything seriously Gl listen to Laura i honestly think you would like her as a rock fan i know she's folky but she may just surprise you

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yx1n...eature=related To get you started

And i don't i think her and joss stone got the ball rolling and then Amy, Adele and the countless other females who all have a niche either indie pop or soul it'd be difficult for her to slip back into it look at safe trip home didn't quite cut it critically or commercially although i liked it.

I dont mind Laura at all, but my comments were she has not done anywhere near enough to be classed alongside dido at present.

But even Dido cant touch my fav solo female artist of all time the incredible Jewel

Also looking forward to hearing the christina perri album which I ordered off amazon!

After doing a quick google search I can't find anything about it, nor with a DS search (which is where I'm sure I read it during one of my random name searchs last year), so my mind must have just made it up!

I had never heard of the astronaut case before but ... Lol. Do you know what came about it? I assume he didn't win.

Edit: They seemed to have payed him off out of court.

I think in terms of mainstream no but in everything else yes her Catalogue of work for a twenty year old is simply incredible.

And i tried her but it didn't work for me have you heard of sarha Mclachlan she is like Dido but with a bit more bit she was part of the lilith fair along with Jewel and Alanis in the nineties sounds right up your street

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RJG3_smRTY enjoy

And i love jar of hearts and her song for breaking dawn a thousands years but next purchase for me ting tings and ladyhawke

that was in 2010 i think and i cant remember the outcome without doing a search. its was to do with him being the astronaut on her album cover `safe trip home`.

I think Laura Marling is the better one of the two though. Dido's music always sounded very bland and middle-of-the-road to me. Laura's is more folky.
