Fans Blinded By Their Fandom
You know, people who refuse to believe their favourite bands and artists are anything but 100% fantastic all of the time.
Name some of the things that annoy you about your favourite acts. Stevie Nicks - that quiet croak-like whimpering sound that's almost like she's taking her last breath. She did it a lot during her mid-80s live singing and also on demo tracks. Bugs the hell out of my for some reason. |

I love Guns N' Roses, both in their current and previous incarnations but I wish Axl would get his act together and put out another album instead of touring Chinese Democracy for years and years. It's not connected with the public at large, they didn't get it, he's supposedly got 30+ songs ready to release, try something else.
I love Johnny Cash but his patriotic stuff and religious stuff turns me off big time. Not much of a criticism though, it was an indelible part of who he was whether I enjoyed it or not. On a similar note, I like Lady GaGa but seeing her live last year and hearing a load of preachy Jesus bullshit was a major irritant. If your whole raison d'etre is acceptance and tolerance, don't try to force your beliefs on people. I wish Tori Amos would go back to her roots instead of putting out dull, bland pretentious albums that are co-produced by her husband, who is also a lousy guitarist. For someone who's held up as a strong, independent woman, she certainly appears to have let 'husband' completely compromise her work in recent years. I used to like Placebo but they need to change direction and stop making the same album over and over again. I like Smashing Pumpkins but Billy Corgan's not written a decent song in many a year. Losing Jimmy Chamberlain was a massive blow, he was the single greatest living drummer in rock in my opinion. |

I quite like Muse but Mat Bellamy's sharp intake of breath he does on near enough every sentence he sings annoys me.
I love The Cure but I don't like it when I see live footage of them and they speed up one of their songs(they've done this with 'Lullaby') I think it ruins the experience. I like P!ink but have always found her a bit hypocritcal. I always got the impression that she was trying to be one of those more tomboyish/ not slutty type of girls,(not like the ones she sings about in Stupid Girls) but then she does things like nude/'sexy' photo shoots etc and it makes her seem a bit of a hypocrite. |

There are a lot of fans of X Factor wannabes that are rather disillusioned - especially who didn't go far in the competition. They're often adamant that 'Ruth' or 'Laura' or 'Austin' or 'Kimberly' or 'The Unconventionals' are on their way to top ten hits, mega stardom and beyond yet from a little accoustic demo MySpace account.

I'm a huge fan of The Smiths and Morrissey but I don't always agree with his personal opinions and views. In the eyes of many a fan, that makes me the devil incarnate. Fed up of Morrissey fans who think they're better than me or are bigger fans because they take everything he says as gospel.

i was wondering why he didn't want to see him a few days/weeks later at a festival gig when i had free tickets. that's pretty severe to do that apparently the front rows of his gigs have the same people all the time, looking the same, still dressed up as morrissey circa 1986 |

my mate had tickets for a 3 night run in london to see morrissey as he was a big fan. he didn't go to the last 2 nights as he said morrissey had so much contempt for the audience and looked like he didn't want to be there, that he didn't enjoy it and wasn't going to see him again, even though he already had tickets

I much prefer the image of Morrissey I have in my head from listening to his music than the reality of him. |

All fans can be blinded by their fandom. That's kind of what it means to be a fan. But I have to say, reading all of the Madonna fans trying to defend MDNA and its singles on certain threads is a mixture of laughable and frustrating...

I have been a Depeche Mode fan since like the ealy 80's but since Alan Wilder(Recoil) left the band, most of their output has been not very good, apart from most of 'Ultra' and Playing The Angel... I refuse to go and see them live as they are now... I can tell from the tour DVD's that they are nowhere near as good as they were... IMO!

although i heard a few stories of him banning certain fans from gigs and having his band wear t shirts slagging off a certain fansite he didn't like, so he does sound like a bit of a james hunt |

I love Christina's voice in the studio, but her live performances make me a bit uneasy. I wish she'd tone it down a bit like I know she can, a performance like Save Me From Myself, I'm OK or I Am (Stripped) would demonstrate the restrained, beautiful quality to her voice for a change.
I love Gaga but she needs to improve her self-editing and being less headstrong. We don't need to see everything and the kitchen sink, we know you've got a lot of ideas but half the skill of being a creative is knowing what to edit out. This applies to everything from her videos, her songs and performances to her promotion. |

you've heard other fans saying the same thing about morrissey? i was surprised as i've never heard anything like that before, fans not wanting to go back to see an artist. and considering smiths fans can be a bit mental at the best of times, it's not what you would expect from his fans

Firstly though, MDNA hasn't been released or officially reviewed yet so for others to slag it off before it's been heard is a bit odd. Secondly a lot of Madonna fans have said they didn't particularly like Give Me All Your Luvin'. But are optimistic about Girl Gone Wild because it's a nice pop tune. Madonna gets slagged off all the time. Her fans are loyal to her, will stick up for her but at the same time are generally pleasant towards other artists too. |

I love Britney Spears but it's a pity she mimes at her concerts instead of singing live. That's what put me off going to see her (apart from the expensive tickets). A friend of mine had been to see her and told me she only sung one song live

Monsters and Beliebers are two that immediately came to mind.
The next are K-pop fandom. Man, they're scary. They vote for awards like nobody's business. K-pop group Girls' Generation even beat 1D on an online poll (the comments made on the site were hilarious though!!) |
