i am Inter, supported them because they were underdogs to city neighbours at the time.

Juventus were fined 5,000 Euros for children making 'abusive' chants at the Udinese keeper at the weekend. This all came after usual hardcore fans were banned for 'extreme' chanting. What were the children chanting? "Sh*t" when the keeper went to take a goal kick. So based on that, shall we start fining every club for any language even close to this? You'll struggle to find a game nowadays where you don't see much worst. Pretty ridiculous decision. It's pocket change obviously, but that's not really the point here. The atmosphere was great for the game with the children filling up in the arena, bizarre decision once again.

In other news the Pirlo injury was a bit more than expected, will miss the rest of this year, looking at around 6-8 weeks so will miss key clashes against Galatasary and likely Roma in the new year too. Juve should be fine with Pogba, Marchisio and Vidal there though.

Prandelli has also been praising Totti and discussing him getting a call up ahead of the World Cup based on his form. Could see him called up for the World Cup squad if he can return from injury and continue the way he's been. Would be a pretty special moment for him. Totti will likely still be out of the big clash against Fiorentina this weekend, realistic return could be against Milan mid this month but I'd say the safe bet would be Catania on the 22nd.

Vidal has signed a new contract with Juventus up to 2017, pretty massive news. Most complete and best midfielder in the world for me, crucial they got that deal done.

And as usual, more bizarre stuff at Milan going on with Galliani and Barbara Berlusconi, coupled with Gattuso deciding to bad mouth women in general in football. The partnership between the two might work out better than expected though.

Top Scorers
Rossi - 12
Cerci - 8
Berardi - 7
Callejon - 7
Higuian - 7
Palacio - 7
Tevez - 7

Top Assists
Totti - 6
Cigarini - 5
Strootman - 5
Luca Toni - 5
Valero - 5

Juventus travel to Bologna on Friday while Napoli host Udinese on Saturday. Roma have a big game against Fiorentina on Sunday.
Another informative post, makes going onto DS worthwhile. Pirlo`s loss is a real blow but hopefully Juve can make it through to the knockout stages of the Champions League and remain top of Serie A. The unexpected holiday might be just the thing to revitalise the man and allow him to lead the Azzurri to glory next summer. Great news about Vidal.

Juve will stroll to title. Not sure any other team can keep up a consistent campaign

I noticed the ligue 1 game between Ajaccio and Bastia was played in an empty stadium. Were they forced to play a game behind closed doors or are midweek games in France usually poorly attended?

Juventus and Napoli both crash out of the Champion's League while AC Milan make it through to the knockout stages. Juventus and Napoli can now turn their full attention to the league, while Milan, who are currently struggling in the league, will have to continue to juggle another competition.

Serie A News

Officialy confirmed that Honda will join AC Milan on December 30th when his contract runs out. Galliani said he specifically asked for the number 10 jersey and they've granted him that wish. Deal will be a three and a half year one, running until 2017.

On the topic of AC Milan, El Shaarawy has been confirmed out for three weeks after an injury to his foot against Ajax. He only returned to action after a few months out at the weekend and the injury is in the same foot that kept him out for three+ months. No new fracture and just an inflammation of the previous injury. Pretty massive blow for Milan, they'll be hoping to see him return in the new year with it fully healed.

Sassuolo's trip to Juventus has been rescheduled from this Saturday night to 17:30 on Sunday due to the Gala/Juve game being postponed till Wednesday due to the snow.

More links with Guarin leaving Inter to potentially Manchester United or Tottenham (and even Chelsea today), rumors that talks were held this week. Could be a potential move in January to help Inter free up funds to pursue Ferreyra, Osvaldo and Lavezzi who have all been linked with them recently. (Doubtful of Guarin to any of those for me)

Leggo have been reporting that Palacio will be offered a much improved contract with Inter as well. Current contract runs until 2015 with the talk of it being extended to 2017. Currently has 7 goals this season and 5 assists. 33 in 55 games in total for Inter.

Giaccherini's agent has ruled out a return to Italy in January after rumors linking him with Inter. Don't expect to see him leaving Sunderland this January.

Urbano Cairo confirmed that D'Ambrosio will leave Torino, possibly in January or on a free in the summer.

Elsewhere, Sogliano has denied any contact from AC Milan regarding him becoming their new transfer chief. This among mixed and varied reports of him having discussions with them. The merry go round continues at Milan, certainly never a dull day for them.

Mario Gomez still isn't ready to return to action for Fiorentina due to inflammation in his knee after he had surgery. Gomez has been missing since September and Fiorentina are quite weary on rushing him back too soon. Expect an early new year return, possibly by the end of January.

Fiorentina and Lazio are both through to the knockout stages of the Europa League. Juventus and Napoli drop out of the CL which means they're in the Europa league due to both finishing third in their group. Fiorentina are in pot one due to topping their group while Napoli gained 12 points in their CL group and therefor make pot one too. Both Juventus and Lazio are in pot two.

Top seeds:

Fiorentina, Napoli, Valencia, Ludogorets, Salzburg, Rubin Kazan, Eintracht Frankfurt, Genk, Sevilla, Lyon, Trabzonspor, Tottenham, AZ Alkmaar, Benfica, Basel, Shakhtar Donetsk

Second seeds:

Juventus, Lazio, Ajax, Porto, Viktoria Plzen, Swansea, Chornomorets, Esbjerg, Maribor, Dnipro, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Dinamo Kiev, Slovan Liberec, Betis, Anzhi, PAOK

Juve and Napoli dropping down into the tournament spices it up big time.

Week 16 Fixtures

Saturday 14 December

17:00 Catania vs. Hellas Verona

Sunday 15 December

14:00 Chievo vs. Sampdoria
14:00 Fiorentina vs. Bologna
14:00 Genoa vs. Atalanta
14:00 Lazio vs. Livorno
14:00 Parma vs. Cagliari
14:00 Udinese vs. Torino
17:30 Juventus vs. Sassuolo
19:45 SSC Napoli vs. Inter

Monday 16 December

19:45 AC Milan vs. Roma

Some key clashes this weekend. 3rd meets 4th as Inter are on the road taking on Napoli, who will be looking to bounce back after a great result against Arsenal but elimination from the Champion's League. Juventus will be looking to do the same as they take on Sassuolo, who have been doing a good amount of talking in the build up as they look to take advantage of a wounded Juventus. The big Monday night game see's the return of captain Totti, who's quite likely to start but will certainly feature even if he doesn't. Roma are still unbeaten but have drawn four of the seven games Totti has missed through injury, his return is massive.

Cheers guys.

Catania vs. Hellas Verona
Stadium: Stadio Angelo Massimino
19:45
BT Sport 2

Sixth placed Verona travel to bottom of the league Catania in tonight's only Serie A clash (Juve/Sassuolo was originally set to take place today but was put back to tomorrow due to Juve's midweek clash in the Champion's League). Both teams will be looking for a crucial win tonight. Despite their brilliant placement in the league, Verona's away form has been nothing short of poor with just one win, one draw and five losses, conceding 18 goals in the process. Verona responded with a 2-1 win last weekend over Atalanta and will surely be expecting to pick up three points tonight against bottom of the league Catania. Three losses on the bounce have kept Catania rock bottom.

Catania are without Giuseppe Bellusci, Cristian Biraghi and Sergio Almiron, while Gonzalo Bergessio finds a place on the bench after a month out of action due to a fractured shin.

Key man Jorginho is missing for Verona due to injury. Jankovic misses out due to his ban and Cirigliano is injured for the away side.

Catania come in under major pressure after recent protests at their training ground from the ultras after poor recent form.

Catania: Frison; Peruzzi, Spolli, Legrottaglie, Alvarez; Plasil, Izco, Guarente; Castro, Leto, Barrientos

Catania bench: Andujar, Ficara, Capuano, Rolin, Gyomber, Monzon, Tachtsidis, Freire, Bergessio, Petkovic, Boateng, Gallardo

Verona: Rafael; Cacciatore, Moras, Maietta, Agostini; Romulo, Donati, Halfredsson; Iturbe, Toni, Gomez

Verona bench: Mihaylov, Nicolas, Albertazzi, Bianchetti, Marques, Donadel, Laner, Longo, Cacia, Martinho, Rubin, Sala

Form guide:
Catania (L W L L L)
Verona (W L L L W)

Key Player: Juan Iturbe (Verona)

Catania and Verona drew 0-0, hoping Juve can bounce back tomorrow after their elimination from the Champions League. Actually I am REALLY looking forward to the draw for the Europa League, pretty strong representation from Serie A, the Europa League is a brilliant tournament and if Juve win it they will be back in the real big time. Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have won it in recent years and nobody is saying they are bad teams.

The fact that the final of the Europa League, is in Turin, might refocus Juve's European mindset somewhat.

The draw for both competitions could throw up some very interesting ties, so I am looking forward to them!

The Europa League REALLY annoys me.

Its a brilliant tournament with some excellent teams and more often than not throws up some really great football but the way it is marketed is all over the place. Its struggling to be even a poor relation to the CL and the way the games are played means its almost a punishment to be involved in it. Its all wrong. Im not sure what to do about it but something should be done.

I think that ever since the change in format, it has got a lot better.

The old format where you would only play teams once, with one team played twice (or something like that) was really stupid.

The change to a mini Champions League was needed, and has given it a new lease of life, of course the only bugbear is the relegation, or the dropping in of the third placed Champions League teams, as they are being rewarded for failure, which should just not happen.

That really is the only major change that needs altering, remove them from the Europa League, and allow it to be a totally separate competition, like the FA Cup and the League Cup are separate from each other.

Then we will see it improve even more.
The fact that the winner now recieves a Champions League spot, I think will make teams want to take it seriously, or perhaps more seriously than before.

The final being in Juve's stadium this season, I think will focus their minds, similar to how Bayern wanted to reach the final of the Champions League, when it was announced as being held there, so that could be to the competition's benefit.

So whilst it is in a good place right now, there are still changes, which could improve it further.

Final games today in Serie A before the Christmas break, next set of games is in the new year on the 6th of January.

Napoli dropped crucial points last night away to Cagliari in a 1-1 draw, while Udinese picked up a crucial three points away to third from bottom Livorono with a 1-2 victory.

Bologna/Genoa currently 0-0, just blown for halftime.

Juventus have a chance to go ten points clear of third place Napoli as they travel to Atalanta. Roma meanwhile face bottom of the league Catania. Vidal, Maicon, Ljajic and Florenzi all have to be careful in those two games, a yellow card for any of those four will rule them out of the big game on the 6th as Roma travel to Turin to take on Juventus in the big clash at the top.

And of course it's the big Milan derby tonight as Inter take on Milan. Crucial game for both, I'm going with a draw.

Is this in force this campaign? So if an English team, say, Tottenham wins it, one of the top 4 teams miss out?

I think it comes into force next season (but don't quote me on it, as I am not 100% sure), but yes, if a team does win it, then the 4th placed team would miss out (if the winning team came from outside the top four).

First and second place Juve/Roma just kicking off. Pirlo returns to the Juventus midfield and Totti starts for Roma.

Should be a cracker.

Chievo and Cagliari ended 0-0 earlier and Fiorentina managed to grab a 1-0 win against Livorno thanks to a Gonzalo goal, which keeps them five points clear for fifth placed Inter and level on points with Napoli.

Totti and Pirlo, my oh my, we should appreciate all the time that they have left in them, as they have been simply wonderful players (the same can be said also of Zanetti).

Rossi apparently might have picked up another horrible injury in that earlier Fiorentina game, which would be really unfair on him, after all that he has come through recently, that would be the last thing which he would deserve.

Didn't see the full game and missed the challenge that Fiorentina are fuming about from Rinaudo, but they've already come out and said they fear he might of damaged the cruciate ligament in the same knee he's had all of his previous injuries in. Tests tomorrow apparently, just hope it's not as serious as it seems. If it is then it's obviously season over and World Cup hopes dead for Rossi, which is pretty damn hard to hear considering the time he spent out and how good he's been after finally over coming the previous knee injury.

1-0 Juve at halftime, no surprise that it's Vidal with the goal.

If it is a serious injury, or as serious as it could be, then that is some rotten luck for him, and not anything of the sort that he deserves.

I just feel so sorry for him, it is the very last thing that he could have possibly neeed to happen, what with the World Cup now very much on the horizon.

Ahh Vidal, how much extra has that goal put on his price tag now?

It's a Public Holiday in Italy tomorrow, so there's 7 Serie A games being played, and 3 of them are on BT:

Napoli-Sampdoria at 11:30am
Milan-Atalanta at 2pm
Lazio-Inter at 5:30pm

That's my day sorted
