What's the goal scoring record (Raul?) for Real - surely going to break isn't he?

They'll need to do a lot better than they did yesterday if they're going to press for third place! Losing 4-1 at home to Cagliari is an absolutely disastrous result for a team like Inter, and the all-round performance was as sloppy as I've seen from them for quite a while.

Looks like Juventus and Roma are going to be a long way ahead of everyone else again this year, third place might be one of the most intriguing contests around Europe this year as there's no outstanding candidate for it at the moment.

Speaking of Inter, it looks like we were right to let Vidic go, he has not started the season at all well for Inter.

Vidic has been sent off, and given away two pens so far I think, not exactly the start that I think he was hoping for.

The penalty given yesterday was very very harsh in fairness, and his sending off was a bit of an over-reaction from the referee to Vidic's sarcastic applause - I'd say he's had an unfortunate start to his career at Inter rather than a bad one.

yup, 100% agreed.

only one genuine mistake, that terrible botched backpass. other than that he looks solid as ever.

Looks like a pretty good night to watch the European Football Show on BT next Sunday;

5pm - Juventus vs Roma
8pm - PSG vs Monaco

I can't see Monaco putting up much of a fight at the Parc des Princes, they've had a pretty rotten start to the season and it looks like the Ryblovlev billions might be pretty similar to the Notts County investment of a few years ago. PSG haven't been good either this season, but I still reckon they'll have more than enough to see off Monaco.

I'm hoping Roma do the job over Juvé, fingers crossed for them because I'd love to see Totti get another title medal before he retires!

I would think that a more apt comparison for Monaco would be Malaga than Notts County.

Me too!! That would be the perfect fairy tale ending! Damn Juve are really strong, didn't expect that under Allegri. Since when is Tevez scoring again?!

Well, Notts County were the first ones that sprang to mind, but there's obviously been a few instances in the last couple of years where clubs thought they were set for years to come, only for the owners to either pull the plug (Anzhi, probably Monaco too), or not have any money in the first place (Notts County, Malaga)!

Them as well, sadly it seems that there are more clubs that have been bought by rich owners, and then been held liable for their off-field financial troubles, then ones that are now stable.
City, Chelsea, and PSG should count their lucky stars, that nothing like that has happened to them.

Man City's official twitter account yesterday afternoon sent out a tweet saying "We're looking forward to hosting you @OfficialASRoma, and a legendary player such as Totti. He's never scored in England, has he? #CityvRoma"

That worked out well for them...

It was a good performance from the Giallorossi last night, certainly much improved on their previous trips to England where they've mostly turned up, rolled over, and taken a hammering. One other thing that impressed me, I think Clive and Andy on commentary might have actually done a little bit of homework on Gervinho; not once did they seem surprised at his ability, and they didn't mention his time at Arsenal at all!

Of those three clubs, I think City would be the worst off if the money disappeared all of a sudden right now. Chelsea have actually done a decent job of building a sustainable model over the last 10 years - they're now a globally-recognised "brand" (and I hate that word being used in regards to football clubs) which should mean they would be okay.

PSG are the only club in a city of 4 million people so they have a large catchment area to work with, plus owning a club in a city as appealing as Paris has it's own attractions obviously.

City I think are still some way off being globally recognised in the same way as Chelsea - they haven't had the European success that came as quickly as it did for them either - Ranieri took them to the semi-finals of the Champions League in their first season under Roman if my memory serves me correctly. No-one has managed to do that at City yet. City also don't have any "superstar" players either; Touré and Aguero come close, but just aren't in the same bracket as the likes of Ibra, Ronaldo, Suarez, Messi etc.

Furthermore, they are still seen as the second team in their own city - anyone around the world asked to name a football team from Manchester will still say "United" at this point in time - City are still currently something of an afterthought, and will probably remain that way until they start to succeed in Europe, or until they manage to pull the biggest "name" players in the world there.

Trouble for the Atletico captain?

Admits he was made to fix a vital game by his old club in 2011.

Will there be strong consequences for him or just the clubs involved?

Atlético Madrid captain Gabi Fernández has admitted involvement in the fixing of a Spanish top flight match, according to reports in Spain.

Gabi, who led Atlético to the Spanish league title last season, made the apparent admission at an appearance on Thursday before prosecutors in Madrid.

The match at the centre of the fixing investigation is Real Zaragoza's 2-1 win over Levante at the end of the 2010-11 season.

Gabi scored twice for Zaragoza in that match, one of them a strike from 30 yards, and the victory saved his team from relegation to the second tier of Spanish football, with Deportivo La Coruña finishing in the final relegation place instead.

I don't get that; he fixed a game by scoring twice and helping his team win?

Isn't every footballer supposed to try and "fix" games in that manner?

Nah, it wasn't mentioned in what way he tried to fix the game.
