Channel 4/5 used to do a Ligue Un show like that at a silly time like 3am, it was great. Just pure highlights with the closest you get to jibber-jabber or hyperbole was Efan Ekoko complimenting a striker during a replay.

Dortmund are the best team in Europe right now. If they was in the EPL, they would rip it up. Come May 2013 i have a feeling we will be hearing Fergie say, 'The challenge for us to be on a level and surpass that of Dortmund, and that is a challenge we accept'.

anyone know the name of the Juventus youngster who scored that wonderful goal vs Man Utd in Gary Neville's testimonial please? What's happened to him - still at Juve? cheers

The lad who scored the free kick? He's still a Juve player but on loan in Serie B somewhere.

Well they sure aren't ripping up the Bundesliga, being in 3rd place 11 points behind Bayern Munich.

From the same number of matches they currently have one point more than each of Chelsea, Spurs and West Brom have in the Premier League.

as impressive as Dortmund are, they're not the best team in Europe at all.

Dortmund are certainly going to be a force in the coming seasons if they can keep their rising stars. They've got such a young squad and losing Kagawa didn't hurt them at all since they brought in a better player in Reus. Losing Lewandowski could be more damaging though.

They had a bad start for sure, but if you think they aren't better than any English side then Scudamore has brainwashed you.

Outclassing Real for 180 minutes and having a more direct and fast paced style than Barca, i would say so.

I would rather Utd faced Real or Barca than Dortmund in the Champions League.

"direct and fast paced style" means better now? interesting...

if you'd rather face Barca than Dortmund after the recent beatings you've taken at the hands of Barca, then I'm speechless

Falling back on the 'brainwashed PL fan football only started in 92 yeah' stuff seems a little misguided here.

Naa, none of us can have been closely following football for say more than 40 years and have a considered opinion of our own, which disagrees with Jimmy's

Reviving this bad boy!

Balotelli makes his debut despite originally being on the bench. Pazzini injured in the warm up so in comes Balo. Should be a good one here against Udinese.

Inter got a bit of a drubbing earlier to second from bottom Siena, while Juve beat Chievo 2-1, probably should of been more. Juve back to three points clear, Napoli just behind them.

Edit: And good god, almost a super start for Balotelli inside 30 seconds. Lovely run and just pulls it wide of the post! Crowd pumped for him.

Lets see how he does in the long term at Milan, it is one thing scoring on your debut, but another thing to do it consistantly.
It is a very good start though so far.

Udinese robbed in the final minute, brilliant tackle given as a penalty.

Balotelli seals a brilliant debut by converting the penalty, finishes 2-1. Udinese can feel gutted by that.

Cracking goal by Benzema. Madrid looking much better this week, although it would be hard to be worse than last week.

I wonder if it might be worth an English club putting in a bid for Modric. He doesn't seem to be loved in Madrid...

Edit: Screamer from Ronaldo!

Simple 4-1 win for Madrid then. Looked more like the side that put 5 past Valencia. It's amazing that Kaka hasn't played more often this season, he really makes a difference. They looked OK in defence, but it's a shame Varane is out with injury, he looks a real talent. I feel whoever starts alongside Ramos on Wednesday between Albiol and Pepe could be a weakspot for them.

Meanwhile, Bayern extended their lead in the Bundesliga to 15 points today with a comfortable 4-0 win over Schalke, after Dortmund got beaten 4-1 at home by Hamburg. Straight red for Lewandowski too.

Juve also extend their lead in Serie A to 5 points with a 2-0 win over Fiorentina, while 2nd placed Napoli drew 1-1 with 3rd placed Lazio. Buffon is back from injury which is great news for them, but with Chiellini and Bonucci still out their defence isn't looking great. Bonucci should be back for the Celtic game though.

So basically, all 3 sides looking good going into the Champions League matches against the British sides.

Yeah, Chiellini's absence has been pretty big for Juve, though he should be back within the next couple of weeks and likely fine for the second leg against Celtic. Asamoah traveled back today and SHOULD be fine for the first leg on Tuesday, probably starting on the left.

Straight forward win for Juve yesterday, dominated most of the game and Fiorentina didn't really cause any great problems for them. Vidal brilliant as always too. Worries about Vucinic for the game on Tuesday as he went off with a knock.

Napoli rescue a late point against Lazio with an absolute beauty from Campagnaro. Can see it here:

http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos...apoli-v-lazio/

Which leaves Juve 5 points clear at the top. Pescara travel to Palermo today in a match that Palermo really could do with winning, both in the relegation zone, a victory either side could be massive. Balotelli starts again as Milan continue to make their way up the table.

Just watched Barca beat Getafe 6-1. Iniesta was controlling everything.

Iniesta was insanely good today. The pass for the opening goal was just brilliant.

It has happened quite a lot. Barca tend to hammer teams in the last ten minutes - which is mainly due to the opposition tiring down from running around the pitch from the first minute.

As something of a Dortmund fan, I wouldn't say they are the 'best team' in Europe atm. That's Barcelona. Dortmund, are however probably contenders for the 'rising team' in Europe if you will. They can do very well in the future if they can keep all of their stars.

Dortmund would probably be a match for most PL teams. The Bundesliga is a harder league than EPL; and Bayern have just been exceptionally good this season (which is why they've been sooo dominate) I think next season they'll find it difficlut to match this season's extraordinary accomplishments. The PL is only as competitive as it is these days because of poor defending. They're aren't many decent defences in our league at all.

Dortmund actually play a simlar brand of counter-attacking to Real; Dortmund just do it better. To do the double in a league with Bayern is something special; they're more than just another Wolfsburg or Stuttgart. Barcelona play a different brand of football to Dortmund; they play a possession game which is more simlar to Bayern's style.
