Personally thought it appropriate that the African Nations bore fest ended appropriately with a 0-0 final after extra time.

Didn't catch much of it. Extremely entertaining shootout, though.

Lyon and PSG played out a 1-1 draw so the French title race stays as is with the top four all drawing this weekend.

Anthony Lopes had a brilliant game for Lyon. Keeping pretty much everything out that PSG threw at him until they got a penalty.

Really interesting title race in France this season.
Yep a very underrated league.

Barca are looking very impressive. They have strength in depth. Players who weren't on the subs bench today include Montoya, Sergi Roberto, Sergi Samper, Ramírez and El Haddadi. Also a lot of the players should be as fresh as daisies considering Luis Enrique's rotation policy earlier in this season, and of course, the Christmas break.

Messi so far this year - 10 goals / 7 assists.

I see the stories about Messi to the EPL have dried up. Funny that.

I expect Barcelona to overtake RM soon. Giving the bauble to Cristiano seems to have galvanised Messi. They have a deeper squad than RM and now that Ramos is crocked, even Atletico might overtake them. I just want Villareal to make the CL spots.

Watched some of Lyon vs PSG and was hugely impressed with Lopes. And with the still fluffy hairdo but greatly increased girth of Joel Bats (Lyon keeping coach nowadays).

luis enrique really impressed me at roma so i was hoping he would make it through bad patch at barca. they are on fire now.

french title race is also intriguing, would have liked marseille to take advantage this week though.

german league could have been a lot more interesting had wolfsberg not messe dup midweek

italian league is pretty much over, gervinho coming back could get roma on a high again though. inter looked very good vs palermo also.

cant wait for CL and Europa to start next week, some very tasty ties like

man city vs barca
psg vs chelsea
juve vs madrid
spurs vs fiorentina
inter vs celtic

Parma have been dissolved racking up debts of €197 million, the club have been automatically relegated, the rest of the fixtures will be a 3-0 win to the opposition.

Don't they usually remove all of a team's results from the table when they go out of business?

Haven't watched Serie A since the days of Channel 4 coverage, but it is a real shame to see Parma go through this. They have had some wonderful players play for them over the years.

Does anybody know what will happen next? Is it a case of no more Parma or is it a similar situation to Rangers?

I read about Parma recently. Especially, Crespo saying the club couldn't even provide water for the kids. The writer seemed optimistic that they would see out the season. It's a shame it's come to this. Chasing the big dream comes at a great cost.

They haven't dissolved yet, that's the media translating it all wrong (and no surprises there).

Marcotti seems to think that the worst case scenario is they fold and best case scenario is see out the season, go into administration, likely drop a division and auction. Manenti is now saying he's not leaving Parma though.

In other news that also backs up Osvaldo being an absolute moron, he apparently attempted to attack Mancini. Currently shipped out to Boca and I'll repeat what I said before, you've got to be mental to bring this guy to your club.

I've watched Italian football for a very long time. It's very sad about Parma.

Their situation reminds me of Fiorentina's from a few years ago, they had huge money troubles, and were relegated, and went bust I think, but they set up as new club, and bought back the old clubs things if I remember correctly, and that is who we see now.

So there is still hope for Parma, they just need to look at what Fiorentina did.

icardi will be target of quite a few clubs but get feeling from interviews hes happy to stay in italy. his love life means more to him than personal success.

no judgement on that. can judge on stealing another mans wife though lol

Got my ticket for Ajax vs Cambuur, marking only the second time I've visited a place at the same time they've got a home game (Orlando Magic the other, fact fans).

The bloated tourist price includes an 'official Ajax souvenir' which I'm sure won't be a cheap piece of crap.
