Watching the Copa Libertadores highlights that are shown on ESPN got me thinking, we have all see plenty of South Americans in the Champions League, but has their been any British players that have played in that tournement?
The Champions League? Yes, lots..

Okay, perhaps I was asking for that respinse, but come on, you know what I meant!

I wouldn't mind seeing a few players broaded their horizons, and playing in this (or the Asian version of the Champions League), as the Copa does have a very long and prestigious history.
It just seems that we are very inscular I feel, and so when British players do play abroad, I am all for wanting them to do well.

Yes they most certainly are, I would say that them, Barca and Juve are the three teams that I would most fear in the next round of the draw (along with a bit of a trek to face Shakthar, as I would prefer a shorter trip that that).

Juve/Napoli ends 1-1. Cavani somehow stayed on the pitch after a laughable referee decision to be frank. Elbowed Chiellini in the face, the official see it...and gave him a yellow card. It made no sense what so ever. Chiellini returns and scores, massive return for Juve. Probably should of won this game in all honesty.

Elsewhere, this 'tackle' on Ronaldinho was simply fu*king disgusting. How he got no card is mind boggling.

Very interesting to see the side Mourinho has put out against Barcelona today while SAF has gone for it against Norwich. Ronaldo rested while Di Maria is suspended leaves their attack looking slightly weak!

I'm sure the Madridistas could just about stomach a loss to Barca today if they beat United in the week... but two losses would be unforgivable for Mourinho.

Edit: Having said all that, Benzema has just scored. Great play by Morata, looking a good prospect!

1-1 between Real Madrid and Barca. Messi just equalised.

Just been reading on ESPN that Messi was unwell on Wednesday and ended up staying at home for a few days due to fever after the game.

Anybody got Sociedad/Betis on? Bloody mental second half, currently 3-3. 5 goals in the last 18 mins or so, crazy.

Milan battered Lazio last night. Harsh red for Lazio IMO though which basically effected them for the rest of the game. No Balotelli either, very good performance and they're creeping right up the table now. Inter left it late today to nick a win away at Catania, much needed win. Roma look like they're about to make it three wins in three now too, currently 2-1 up against Genoa.

Another brace for Balotelli today, which makes it 7 goals in 6 games for him as Milan beat Palermo 2-0 and keeps them just two points behind Napoli in third place, massive turn around after the awful start they had to the season.

Talking of Napoli, they beat Atalanta 3-2 to keep the title race just about alive. Juve won 2-0 last night away to Bologna, gap is still 9 points. Siena were the only team in the bottom three to pick up any points after their 0-0 draw against Cagliari. A win or even a draw against Lazio tonight for Torino could give them a bit of breathing space from the bottom four. Fiorentina snuck a 3-2 win against Genoa to keep themselves right in the battle for the CL spots.

Elsewhere, the Samp/Inter game has been called off due to the weather.

Just seen the Juve game. Couldn't believe the commentators talking about Vucinic being a great finisher after his goal... He's an awful finisher! Great player though! That Diamanti is some player too, unreal left foot and it's a bit like watching Dembele how he just glides past opposing midfielders with the ball.

I did notice that Barca were using a lot more long ball passes then they usually do in the game against Rayo Vallecano. The Messi-Villa combo up front was superb.

Just to say, does anyone know how or why Ibra's ban got reduced for their Champions League match against Barca? He is now able to play in both legs.

When was the last time someone had a ban reduced so long after the original decision?

Mario Gotze apparently agrees deal to sign for Bayern Munich. Fu*k me.

Juve beat Milan Sunday night with a penalty from Vidal to close in on another title. Napoli with yet another mental game too with yet another last minute winner.

A transfer like this can only make the gulf between the 2 clubs wider. Bayern are just reaffirming their status as the top club in Germany. It's just a coincidence that the 'German Messi' should just so happen to be moving to a club that will have Guardiola as their boss next season.

Yeah I fear the gap, which is already huge, will just increase even further next season now.

Here is what Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp thinks of prized midfielder Mario Gotze's summer move to rivals Bayern Munich, which was announced today:

"[Mario] Gotze was a player [new Bayern coach Josep] Guardiola wished to sign.

"He knows he owes a lot to the club, but I know he gave a lot back as well. Gotze wanted to work with an extraordinary coach. I cannot teach the 'Tika-taka' ways of Guardiola.
wow..

That is a very interesting quote indeed, many thanks for that.

It is no surprise that Pep is starting to put his plans or ideas into action, as this is the period when you would expect him to do so, at least transfer wise.

That quote is really sad to me, tbh. I think everyone knew Gotze would move, but to Bayern? Wow.....

Juve crowned champion's as they beat Palermo 1-0, well deserved and still quite remarkable how quick they've turned everything around after the scandal years and years back. Awesome side.

Elsewhere Balotelli has grabbed a late goal for Milan, four clear of Fiorentina now with three games to go for that final CL spot. Genoa smashed Pescara and are three clear of the drop zone, all to play for at the bottom still!
