Aren't the European leagues exciting! BATE Borisov going for their 11th straight title this season too. And Olympiacos about to get their 7th in a row, amongst other examples I can think of off the top of my head.
I remember Rosenborg in the 90's dominating their league, I don't think it is that healthy for just one team to be winning their respective league without seemingly any challengers.

the week's rest (their first for about 3 months) really did Barca some good. 6-0 v Getafe, with Suarez rested, and it could've been 10 or 11 had they really gone for it. Messi could've scored any number he wanted, had that been his motivation. missed yet another penalty though, although he generally tends to score them when it really matters. 37 unbeaten in all competitions and 12 straight wins in the league. 103 goals between the front 3. the stats for the calendar year to date alone are just unreal - P20 W18 D2 L0 F70 A11

Atletico have won 6 of 7 now, and are also starting to score more goals in addition to their ridiculously tight defence (12 goals conceded all season). aside from Barca and Bayern, I think they will be the team no-one wants to draw in next round of the CL.

Real are simply awful. for all the criticism Benitez received, they are far worse under Zidane, who is looking out of his depth. at least the fans are now starting to wake up and realise the players have a lot to answer for, especially some of the ones previously considered untouchable. records simply don't mean anywhere NEAR as much without the achievements to back them up. to paraphrase a quote Sid Lowe is fond of using, the garnish is eating the steak where Real are concerned.

Sevilla continue to be probably the most bewildering team in Europe. 13 straight wins at home in the league, including against Barca, Real, Villareal and Athletico Bilbao, but not a single away win all season. make sense of that if you will. great game against Villareal today, and it's going to be an interesting fight between the two teams for 4th spot and CL qualification. after Dortmund, I make them 2nd and 3rd favourites for the Europa League too.

Madrid for me win games more down to the quality of players they have rather than the side being a cohesive unit who control games and tactically have a plan to beat the opposition.

Today's big game between Galatasaray and Fenebache was called off by the authorities who were worried by a bomb threat after the recent attacks in Turkey

Can't help but be worried that this summer's Euro's will be targeted

It certainly makes the run in a little bit more exciting, and brings Real back into contention, still think Barca will edge it, their firepower is on another level.

Their firepower wasn't on another level yesterday though.
I agree though that Barca will edge it. It does make the league a little more exciting though.

Just read that Palermo have had more managers this season than wins. 9 managers and 7 wins...

Their new incoming manager was only sacked by them in January after a massive two months in charge too. Boggles the mind why he'd accept the job again, or why anyone would for that matter. Must be paying out some sweet severance packages.

In Italy you can only manage one club per season. That's why it's pretty normal to see the same manager get rehired. That said the management situation at Palermo has hit a new low this season even for Maurizio Zamparini,

This run of poor results from Barcelona has got me thinking, could we see a different name besides Ronaldo and Messi on the next World Player of the Year trophy?

If neither Real nor Barca win the Champions League, could that mean we see someone else get a nod?

Or will it still come down to those two who wins it?

PSG beat Caens 6-0 and go 30 points clear at the top of Lique 1 with a +71 GD!

In comparison, Leicester are 32 points ahead of Swansea who are in 15th.

Anyone know what's the biggest ever winning margin in Europe's top 5 leagues?

Tiredness might be a factor as they seem to play the same starting line up every week

It seems like it's only a couple of weeks since they blitzed Valencia in the Cup

Still 0-2 down with 30 mins to go

You can get Real Madrid to win the title at great odds

Great. Always sensed it wasn't over ever since I read a stat that Barca's front three had scored something like 47 of the team's 54 goals.

Problem is, if Real win the title, the club will retain Zidane as coach which I don't think is for the best.

I much prefer to see the other Madrid win the title again, it would be fantastic for them to do so once again!

It just said that it's 13 years since Barcelona lost 3 league games on the spin

to be honest, even though I expected Barca to win the game, I was a lot less concerned after the game than before it. the prior games were bad performances, whereas this one was more bad luck. they dominated the game and made (and missed obviously) A LOT of chances. if (and it's not that big an if) they play even nearly as as good in the next 5 games, then it really won't matter what Real or Atletico do.

having said all that, Depor away (with Pique suspended) has all the hallmarks of a trap-game.
