having said all that, Depor away (with Pique suspended) has all the hallmarks of a trap-game.”

The team selection against Sociedad was all over the place and against Valencia they lost their heads after the 1st goal.

What has happened to Alex Vidal? From what I've watched of him since Jan, he's been better than Alves defensively and on a par with him attacking wise, he looks a ready made replacement at right back, whereas Turan hasn't looked great at all, especially in the last month or so, I can understand him being out of favour.

4 for Suarez on Wednesday............Another 4 tonight and another 6 for Barcelona. I think it's safe to say their horrendus run is over

It is a bit of a farce when you can have two teams both with over +70 goal difference!

How poor is the Spanish League, it seems Barcelona and Real Madrid score three or more goals in nearly every game they play

Have to agree with this. Yep, they are two brilliant teams, but the gulf between them and the teams outside the top 5 or 6 is not good for la liga.

Are the TV rights still massively swayed towards the bigger clubs? La Liga doesn't do it for me to be honest. As a neutral, watching someone get battered 8-0 by Barcelona or Real Madrid isn't very entertaining IMO.

In which other league would a manager get the sack after his team scored ten (yes ten) goals for being too defensive??

Yes messers Bale, Neymar, Messi and Ronaldo are all fantastic, wonderful players, but it is crazy to see some of the scores seemingly week in week out.

It's not poor. Which other league had 3 sides fighting for the title with 4 games to go?

Which other league has 4 teams left in European competition at the semi final stage? Could of been more if they didn't face each other in the last 8.

At this current time you have two sides who score a hateful of goals which is more a reflection on the quality of those two sides rather than how poor the rest are.

This argument gets brought up every year yet European Competition suggests to me La Liga has to be ranked #1

Yes TV money could be more evenly distributed yet at the same time I can see why Barca and Madrid would be reluctant for that to happen when the EPL is so far ahead in TV revenue. They dont want to fall behind the EPL clubs. In Germany clubs are mentioning ticket prices increases simply because the EPL money.

You really do have a sublime knack of posting the absolutely ridiculous don't you?

Go on, now tell us you 'accidently' forgot to mention Suarez in that list, we'll all believe you, same as we all believe most of your little gems.

Most shocking thing was Barcelona scored 3 pens from 3 attempts.

I was just mentioning a few of the quality players on show, not all of them, there was nothing meant by no mentioning Suarez, who has had probably a Ballon D'or style season stats wise, (something like 45 goals and 18 assists I think it is).

The point was that there are a bit too many times when a team scores over five goals, and even when ten is scored, that is deemed as not being good enough.

We had this discussion before in the Benitez sacked thread and you agreed with me then and now you're posting the opposite to then.

Rayo were 2-1 ahead and outplaying Madrid at their home ground. Rayo went down to 10 men and Real equalised, Rayo had another man sent off and Real then scored 8 against 9 men and also against a team who continues to try and play football despite their numerical disadvantage.

Benitez was sacked because of his poor performances against Sevilla, Atletico, Villarreal and the humiliation from Barca. In those games they scored a mighty 3 goals and conceded 9.

Not forgetting his relationship with the senior players seemed to of broken down.

Napoli lose to Roma 1-0.

Juventus champions. 5 in a row. Juve have taken 73 points from the last 75 possible which really is amazing consistency.

congrats to Juve. Watched the excellent game last night between Fiorentina and Juve. Fiorentina equalised with just a few mins to go and Dybala already subbed. Juve found a way to win it - hugely impressive side.
Pity they didn't play a little better in the home leg vs Bayern or could have made waves in the CL. Allegri saying they aren't happy with just Serie A but are looking to strengthen and win the CL in the next few seasons.
(compare to Wenger's Arsenal - as a fan - and weep).

Is it a bank holiday today in Italy? 2pm on a Monday's a kickoff time you don't usually see.

Watching the Real Betis vs Barcelona game on the Bet365 site and the commentator keeps referring to Barcelona as "Football Club Barcelona". And I mean almost every time he mentions their name. It's slightly annoying.

Ajax shat the bed today. They went in level on points with PSV but with better goal difference so just had to match PSV's away win, and threw away the lead at De Graafschap, who were already relegated.

Big day in La Liga. Various games on Sky one way or another. The Atletico Madrid match is on Sky 2 (the non-sports channel) as well as the red button.

Atletico take a very early lead via Fernando Torres.

And a great Messi free-kick puts Barca ahead.

I still cannot get my head around thinking that Torres is back to being a goalscorer once again, those years at Chelsea have frazzled my mind!
