Apparently Patrick Kluivert has been appointed as PSG's director of foot, not something that I was expecting to read today!

I did as well, such a graceful striker of a ball, he was part of one of my favourite teams growing up, the famous Ajax side that won the Champions League, before being torn up after the Boseman ruling.

...and part of the most gorgeous Netherlands side in my lifetime - their 2000 Euro squad. What beautiful football they played!

Belgium are another international side looking for a new manager now, as Wilmots has been sacked.

Quite possibly so (although I do hope not).

It reminded me of this, when I first saw that footage (again don't look if you are squeamish) - https://youtu.be/UOSYcM4AJ8k

If you can find a clip, check out the Partizan Tirana keeper in their penalty shootout against Ferencvaros in the CL qualifiers. He took the first penalty himself and scored with a paneka, then saved 3 of 4 Ferencvaros pens to send his side through.

Excellent!

There is a gap in the market for a goalscoring goalkeeper now that Ceni has retired.

Looks like Tony Adams is back in a coaching role once again, this time in China.

Don't think it will make a massive difference. the play off is a bit of a pain anyway.

Ridiculous. It's just another way to close the shop to teams outside the top leagues.

The big clubs tend to win the play off anyway.

Yes and it also throws up ties like Porto v Roma which could see Roma go out. You've had Bilbao v Napoli in recent years.

Why should the clubs all get an automatic pass. The top leagues already get enough automatic qualifications.

Why do you want Roma to go out? You want the best teams in the best competition.

Who said I want them out? If they are they are one of the best they will beat Porto. The 'best teams' as you put it should have enough over two legs to win a qualifier. If they can't then they don't deserve to be in the competition.

They tend to but obviously if they are playing each other then they can't both go through. I just don't see this as being an outrage. People complain when there are lame duck teams in the champions league groups anyway.

There should be less teams automatically qualifying, not more if anything!

Those lame duck teams still need a chance or opportunity to play in the Premier competition. Lame duck or not they deserve a crack at qualification.

Another note regarding this rumoured CL change in qualification is the Gazetto reported that the 4th spot may not necessarily go to the 4th placed team, but the highest-placed "historic" team that doesn't finish in the top 3.

How stupid is that!!!

Also four teams each from England, Spain, Germany & Italy guarantees loads of coefficient points which would make it pretty damn impossible for any other league to catch up.

Corruption!!
