I was really hoping her new album would stop all the gimmacky childish music and would really be a return to form for her. An album of carefully crafted songs is what was needed.
The hard candy era was just pure awful, and now this MDNA follow-up is becoming the biggest joke going.

Why cant she make an album that turns heads for another reason like ray of light? Someone please call mr orbit and get a prescription for madge.

Have you heard MDNA already or are you judging it already based on the two main singles already heard?

Basing it on the 2 singles ive heard. Its a good idea of the theme she has gone with for the album.

Erm just because she is is in her 50's doesn't mean she should make old peoples music, dress like an old lady. She is still young and she out dances most dancers that are out now.

Personally I do not think she is trying to hard to be youthful. I genuinley think she likes current urban and dance music. It is just not an everyday sight, seeing a woman into her 50's doing it.

I do not think MDNA will be another Confessions though.

That wasnt the point i am making. Im not ageist and i follow alot of older singers, some in there 60's. But i think madonna is getting too carried away with the trying to fit in with the young ones and so the music is suffering from it.

I don't have a problem with her making "youthful" dance/pop and gyrating around like someone half her age because she can clearly pull it off...but I do wish there was more maturity in her lyrics sometimes.

After living the life that she's lived, accomplished all that she has, and clearly being an opinionated individual...you'd think she'd be able to avoid cliches about dancefloors, clubs, DJ's and whatnot.

The thing for me is though is that there are several dance 'scene's', not just the generic dance pop scene. Yes she has always (or nearly always) produced dance pop, but this time, unlike tracks like Vogue,Justify My Love, Rescue Me etc plus Ray Of Light, Confession'd and Erotica albums, she has chosen a mainstream source for inspiration (in terms od dance music) which I personally believe she is doing herself a disservice by doing so-,but I will to judge the album on its release.

This 'sound' is already sounding dated and will be drawing its last breath before long-I think she has backed the wrong horse musically but then I'm no expert on what sell's in massive quantities or who indeed she is trying to sell to.

Edit: Just noted comments about the lyric' from a poster above which I agree with-hits the nail on the head.

I think Confessions, lyrically was actually very good.

We got that album in American Life and her ''fans'' blasted her for it. Not to mention its her least successful album despite the fact its probably her most honest and personal work.

When she went back to disco for Confessions it became her 5th best selling album so you can't blame Madonna for going down the direction she thinks her fans want to see her in.

William Orbit has produced five tracks on this new album and the 3rd single will be one of his songs. So the likelyhood is that song will be different completely to Girls Gone Wild and Give Me All Your Luvin'.

But Madonna "IS" back! She never went away! She has spent three years doing mature stuff by writing and directing a serious movie. Now she wants to let her hair down. What's wrong with you people? Stop over analysing her!

Lets be real. She does not dance rings around her younger peers. Not the ones who can really dance.

What you say is true, but she can easily give them a run for their money!

I disagree. What she can do is obviously impressive but she's past her prime in that sense for definate. As for giving someone a run for their money, I'd say it depends on a one-on-one comparison.

That may be true but again...her younger peers won't be remembered..she will. Lets see who is talking about Nikki Minaj & Rihanna in 2025.

Aside from Beyonce no one else can match her imho. Rihanna, Gaga, Katy and Britney are certainly not in Madonna's leaque when it comes to dancing. Above all else Madonna's dancing is her greatest asset. That is what she is trained in and that is what got her noticed by label bosses in the first place. I've never heard anyone infact slate Madonna's dancing until you said it here

You go to a Madonna tour, or better still watch some of the videos on Youtube, and you can see what a show she puts on. She dances solid for 3 hours.

I just wish she would stop acting like a child. There is only so many times i can stand having her thrust her vagina in my face.

Are you sure you're a fan? Madonna has been doing that for over 20 years and she shouldn't stop doing it now just because she is getting older. Me I'm awaiting the second Sex book lol

Do people expect her to retire to Vegas and sing Bette Midler style songs? No..she's always had fun songs that talk about dancing and partying and why should she be any different now?

Ciara is the main one, but because of Madonnas stature I would'nt stick to comparing her to females. I dont really have the energy to trawl Youtube tonight though haha.

I beg to differ. People will talk about Rihanna. Whether it's good or bad remains to be seen.

Good for her. I probably did'nt make it clear but I basically mean she will be more restricted to what she does these days.

I'd say people will talk about Gaga and Britney as well and to a lesser extent Katy.

Have to agree.

I have no issue with her choosing a dance or even R&B style, as she has done dance music for decades and some of her biggest successes have been with dance music.

however if she managed to combine lyrics about her life experiences with contemporary dance music, it would lift her above the Rihanna's, Jason Derulo's and Enrique's of this Pop-Dance world.

'Sorry' is a good example of her getting it right, it was modern (at that time of course) yet had more lyrical depth than 'girls going wild on the dancefloor, yeryeryer woo yer' or whatever the new one goes like.
