Just set mine up today and now have HSPDA all around the house !

It is wonderful but beware that it is your broadband provider who is providing the access to the data. Fine if you have unlimited provision but if you are on BT Total Broadband with a 10GB monthly limit what you consume at home on your mobile phone will be coming out of your BT broadband allowance. The same as switching on the phone's Wi-Fi really and using your router access for data. HSDPA around the house is fab but why not just connect directly to the router and enjoy much faster download speeds directly with your ISP?

Sure Signal makes sense for poor reception areas but really just for voice and text if a phone is Wi-Fi enabled.

Say you have like a 750mb data allowance or something... If you use HSDPA from the sure signal. does it come out of your Vodafone data allowance?

No - how can it? You are using your broadband ISP to access the data! Then again they might count your home Wi-Fi to the handset lap as Vodafone provision!

Best to use the Sure Signal for nothing other than voice and texts and use Wi-Fi for data.

But it amazingly does!

I had this argument with Vodaphone and more recently 3. Even though it uses your broadband it still comes out your allowance. So use your wireless internet!

Robbers..... charging to use your own broadband allownace then counting data transmitted in your home over a femtocell! Bonkers but those who do it deserve all they get for being so silly.

Just glad I can use my mobile where. I live I e in the middle of nowhere .

I think this misses the point. it is sold as a solution for people that don't have signal at home. on any network. it's intended to be used when it is the only solution.

if you're at home and your phone has wifi it should be using it anyway.

you may be using your bandwidth, but you haven't stopped using their bandwidth, they are sat on the other end of that connection.

and you don't have to buy it.

Costs a network money to provide a femtocell, every time you use it the network has to pay your broadband provider for the interconnect costs for them to carry the signal through their network and into your mobile operators network.

It's quite right it should come from your allowance.

For me the whole point is that in the middle of a contract with Vodafone I move to a property which is extremely rural and indoor coverage is shite.

I have so many minutes to use up but lack of coverage was preventing me from making a call unless I stood by the fireplace and stood totally still

Sure Signal is therefore,for me a no brainer.
