His last single, Starlight, got to number 185. So that's an improvement.

Wow I never would have thought I'd see the day where somebody said that a song charting at #84 was good. I'm sorry, I'm no hater, but that is a terrible position to chart at!

I'm surprised they're even releasing a third single to be honest. It's painfully obvious that this album is dead in the water and that there isn't enough interest in Matt. His first single was bland and people lost interest very quickly, radio didn't play his stuff and nor did the music channel's. That will continue throughout the rest of this album.

If he comes back with a second album and a killer single then they might start supporting him, but any single he releases off this album now just won't get the support of radio's etc.

Starlight was incredible. He should've promoted that more IMO. His album should've been stripped back a bit. Walking on water is awful on the album, but is stunning acoustic. And that's coming from someone who couldn't stand Matt's voice on the show, either he isn't smoking anymore, has learned to sing, and isn't shouting. I bet it's all 3.

its not really good in all honesty, is it? however, he is one of those artists that will struggle with singles by the looks of it. i wouldn't consider him a huge album seller either, but he has sold enough to warrant a second release. although, i saw his album in a shop today and it was £5. so i cant see much money being made off this release to be frank.

looking at the positive, he is one of the only two x factor male winners to have a platinum album. considering there have been 5 male winners, that`s not too bad.

if i was a fan that's the bit that would concern me most about its chart position, not so much the song lifted from the album. I thought that a very popular performance of his and would be downloaded like crazy

That's somewhere between 2200- 2600 sold.

I think we need to agree from the outset is this

1 - A Buzz Single

2 - Something "just for the fans" or

3 - A real single

Matt has to face the fact hes not that good now the hype has gone.

I think Matt is great but his own material is so bland and boring. He had nothing relevent to write and sing about.

Matt's fans have a mantra, it goes like this:

"Matt is doing really well."

So well that he was dropped by Modest Management in December, but never mind...

I doubt whether the hype is there or not affects his musical merit in any way whatsoever.

Crap argument.
