I think it's hilarious that someone who can't shut up about writing his own material and escaping the X Factor is releasing "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" on a single and—even worse—performing it live on his current tour.

There is a brief note on the gig in the Star:

'Women of a certain age and their daughters love him...His haunting version of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face had the room captivated."

And of the four songs he performed that the writer thought worth mentioning, he wrote exactly...one of them.

No sign of this masterpiece in this week's Top 100...

Starlight was ok but i loved amazind and it deserved better, i do like matts album but it lacks stand out singles, i hope he can come up with some strong singles for his 2nd album or otherwise i think he will be in trouble which is a shame as i would love to see his success continue.
