To me Jorgie seems a down to earth girl and she is absolutely lovely. Jorgie never said that she had a hard time of growing up. Everytime Jorgie has an interview, Jorgie is always saying she is lucky that she has her mum and Grandma. Which I find really sweet. I hate the thought that theres a man somewhere in the world that has missed 24 years of his daughters life. Not having a dad around doesn't affect Jorgie one little bit. Jorgie is extremley talented. Her dancing is fantastic. I like the fact that even though Jorgie got picked on as a teenager because she had acne and braces, she has turned her life around and became some better than the bullies. Jorgie doesn't use sympathy because she only got brought up by her blind Grandma and mum. Shes stunning, talented and is simply getting on with her life. Some people judge her because of what she does and some people are just simply jealous.

Why always that old chestnut, I'd love to look like Catherine Zeta Jones or maybe Kate Beckinsale. Rachel Weisz is stunning and very intelligent (Cambridge graduate no less) Georgina Chapman is another stunner and I envy Kirsty Gallacher's look, not to mention that well toned body.

Of this year's DOI crop I wouldn't mind being a clone of Chemmy and I'd die for Jennifer's long legs. They seem to go on forever.

Some pretty nasty comments on this forum about Jen, guess they're all just simply jealous.

If Jorgie was herself instead of trying to turn herself into a pocket sized Marilyn Monroe she'd be more appealing.

I agree, I think it's a falicy that just because someone criticises someone that it must be because they're jealous

Matt's my favourite pro so I started off wanting to support him and Jorgie ... I still think they're one of the top couples skating wise but as the weeks go on I'm finding Jorgie more and more irritating in her VT's and post skate chats . the little girlie voice, the breathlessness along with the Betty Boop faces are just a bit strange to me .... it reminds me of Morweena Banks when she used to do those sketches where she was a school girl.

it's like Chelsee Healey on Strictly, her and Pasha were my favourite dancing couple but I did find her childlike talking and the use of the word "ickle" a bit cringey

I don't watch Hollyoaks so don't know if Jorgie speaks like that in the show too, I just find it strange when she's about 25

Brilliant sketch.

I don't watch iHollyoaks either, but some say that's the real Jorgie others that she's acting on DOI. Dunno which is true but I'm beginning to wonder if it's the former and like loads of soap 'stars' she can only act herself. Those who have left a soap and gone on to become respected thespians are very few and far between and I'd be surprised if Jorgie joined them in the future.

we're agreeing too much PF

but yes I think this is especially the case with the younger soap actors, very few of them manage to leave the soaps and then go on to branch out into other diverse roles

Oh, I don't know. What you have mentioned about soap stars is undoubtedly true, but there are plenty of actors who have built successful careers by playing themselves: Jennifer Aniston, John Wayne, Tom Cruise, Sean Connery and Billy Connolly, for example

I'm not a great fan of any of those you mention, but I think it's a bit unrealistic to put a soap 'star' playing themselves in the same bracket as Oscar/Emmy/Golden Globe winners/nominees.

I'm thinking of those long term actors who had major roles over two or three years or more before seeking pastures new.

Life after Corrie includes the excellent Ann Reid, Thelma Barlow, Sarah Lancashire and recent departure Katherine Kelly, currently appearing at the National Theatre in She Stoops to Conquer and receiving rave reviews. But there have been more failures than success among those who've left and sunk with little trace. e.g. Julie Goodyear, Tina O'Brien.

Emmerdale - I can't think of anyone who's covered themselves with glory after leaving, but plenty who have drifted from soap to soap or disappeared altogether.

It seems Brookside produced the most success stories. Sue Johnston, John McArdle and Anna Friel who went on to international stardom.

Of course a lot have moved sideways from soap to soap. The Bill and Holby City always seemed to soak up some of the left overs.

As diamond1 said earlier it's the older actors who came in with some pedigree and experience who are the real stalwarts of the shows. I doubt if any of the Barlows or Platts etc. would survive in the rough, tough world outside soap.

Sorry very off topic there.

I wasn't putting them in the same bracket. I merely indicated that plenty of successful actors play themselves, and mentioned a few. Come to think of it, didn't Russell Crowe start out in 'Neighbours'?

Yes he did.
