Apparently the new iPad is not officially called the iPad 3 - just iPad - or 'the new iPad'.

However, the iPad 2 will still be called iPad 2.

?

The whole 'the new ipad' thing is a little weird. What will the next one be called?

So "the new" iPad 3 won't support Siri?

So much for the UK operators converting their 900 and 1800MHz networks to LTE. This new iPad only works in the 700 and 2100MHz bands.

So we'll have to wait for the operators to buy 2100MHz spectrum in the (delayed) auction and implement networks before we can use these new iPads in the UK.

Unless you just want to use the few trial transmitters in central London, the next iPad (v4) will have been released in 2013 before LTE will be of any use here.....

EDIT - 2100MHz is of course 3G spectrum. So this iPad in fact will be completely useless for the UK which is using 800, 900 & 1800 MHz for LTE.

I assume I'm not the only one having problems trying to access the Apple UK store for pre-order?

And give Apple another £30 for something that would cost about 5p to integrate into the unit if they wanted to.

For the most part, the games are near-PS3 quality, justifying their near-PS3 price tags in my opinion.

Sony are due to launch PlayStation Suite, which will bring cross-compatible phone & Vita games to the handheld, hopefully with appropriate app-store level pricing.

I'll agree with you about the Vita's browser though - it's bobbins! Luckily, I have a laptop for in the house and a smartphone for on-the-move web browsing.

Order online for delivery. IIRC, delivery is free.

Or, you may also be able to reserve one online for collection in-store (Apple's done that before for other products). You'd pay when you picked it up. Check the Retail section instead of the Store.

It goes into the proprietary dock connector.

[Which is exactly the same as what you'd have to do with a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1... buy an adaptor for USB or SD or HDMI, and connect it to the proprietary dock connector]

But there is no dock

What are you talking about?

Yes there is. It has exactly the same dock connector as previous iPads, iPhones...

Think I'll wander into store a week or so after launch and have a look at one. Will probably opt for the 32 4G

When I pre-ordered my 4S I can't remember how much postage was but it was not too much (there was no option to pick up in store and the stores near me all sold out in the morning)
