Not shure what to make of this update. As with the iPhone it feels like a .5 update. Think I might see what Samsung come up with this year.

Cost is down to Sony charging so much. To put an update on SEN it will cost a small developer 40K. I can't even begin to imagine how much it is to actually put games on there.

Sorry for hijacking your discussion folks, but does anyone have any idea when these may appear on contracts? My Orange contract is about to expire and was looking at the iPad/iPhone combo.

I would presume they will be selling at launch. They will most likely have pages up within days.

I knew something did not add up with that 'lets make it a 300dpi' definition.

Seems the Vita is still the one with an 'A6' type Samsung SOC.
I was curious if they would do the double jump in one update.

I would assume they are keeping the iPad 2.

Yup. The 16GB iPad 2 is staying, with a price cut.

It was actually up earlier... but totally buggered and promptly died... This is the second "We'll be back soon!" update.

They should have rented some of Amazon's computing power, it would not have made a blip on the radar

Planning to pre-order but is there likely to be on the shelf stock on the release day ?

Not too sure about this "new iPad" moniker, especially as they are also going to be selling the "iPad 2". Rather confusing to those not in the know.

What do they want call the next one, new new? For somebody like Apple it lacks imagination, not that iPad 3 is so much better.

They should have named it the iPaddaddle. That would have got it attention.

Any news who makes the display?

I'm assuming it is the new LG AH-IPS similar in type to the True HD ones in the new LG phones.

I guess they're trying to get rid of the numerical updates - in the same way that Mac/Macbooks are not given a number when they are refreshed. No doubt the iPhone will follow suit.

With all the rumours makes you wonder if they knew themselves what to call it.

Ipad HD and Ipad 3 were the names going around.

Mmm, this is getting a bit silly now. They've reopened the US store... presumably the theory is to use the system to take the US load, then once thats sorted, deal with the rest of the world. Bit bored of waiting now though.

I know it's very irritating indeed! Isn't it funny how Apple are able to make some of the best, most powerful gadgets in the whole world, yet when it comes to managing demand on a web store they simply cannot cope, despite the fact that this level of demand must surely have been anticipated.
