sure but then you find down the line that those features are then added. The original iphone was missing cut n paste, MMS messaging, stuff which I agree might overcomplicate it for the Apple target user, and which power users miss more. What happens though is that Apple then introduce the 'missing' features in later version.
Perhaps they prefer to wait till they can run multiple apps as smoothly as it can single-tasking, but it doesn't mean there's "irrational hatred" and "rage". It's a recognition that Apple products are not the best choice for everyone, despite what they might want you to think, or what their staunch defenders believe.
Conversely you'll get some of the more....enthusiastic Appleytes coming out with stuff like "no, I *prefer* that my idevice doesn't have Flash/notifications/a smaller screen". Then change their tune when the missing functionality is in the next version
