Most major manufacturer tablets will get updates on their recent models. The ASUS Transformer has just had an update to ICS in the last few days.

Delays tend to be down to the manufacturers adding all their 'extra software' (bloatware).

You can always load unofficial ROMs from sites such as XDA Developers.

Id certainly recommend you look at the ASUS Transformer range though (the original, and the Prime and the recently announced Transformer Pad 300 and 700).

But hasn't ICS been out for months?

Yes.

ICS has been out a while (Ive had my Nexus for a few months now).

The delay isnt with Google its with the likes of Samsung and ASUS wanting to tailor Android with their own tweaks. With Mobiles you get the extra complexities of carriers (such as T-Mobile or Orange) ALSO adding their tweaks.

Thats one of the big benefits of the Nexus range. Its pure Google with no manufacturer or carrier add-ons.

Whilst a big pro of Android is the variety of units - and therefore the choice to the consumer. The con is that it takes longer for updates to filter out.

However .... The differences between Honeycomb (the tablet OS) and ICS is much less than the difference between Gingerbread (on phones) and ICS. A unit running Honeycomb isnt suddenly redundant.

ICS only came out in November. The manufacturers didn't see it until it was released. It takes time to get a fully functional release ready. I have a beta release of ICS on my SE Arc. At the moment it isn't as good as the gingerbread roms but by the time Sony release it to the public as an official buid it will be even better. Unfortunately we have to wait.

ICS looks very nice by the way and I look forward to flashing it to my Hannstab.

My Xoom is getting the update 2nd Quarter so any time from April to June really, it's a slow process.

here's the Samsung ones that are getting it:

From what I remember the currently available Sam tablets already come with Honeycomb (android 3) so should be an easy step up across the range. Older/cheaper tablets that only come with Android 2.x are probably less likely to get it.

There's new Samsung tabs coming out imminently, and they're shipping with ICS.
