Although the choir were absolutely fantastic, i think that they drownded out the sound of rowettas voice! she is a great singer an you could hardly hear her over the sound of the choir. I just hope that it doesnt go against her.

Choir was an inspired decision on Simons part but they did drown out the actual singer at times and also sounded better.

I think using the choir was a mistake by Simon tonight. Steve could find himself in the bottom two if the public favour the judges comments.

Do you think Simon will face a backlash because of his use of the choir? Maybe a little unfair on the other singers. Louis Walsh didnt mentioned Tabby and the kids though.

i have no problem with the choir, but have to say a line should have been drawn at sharon using a choir, guitar and cute kiddies. crass just ain't the word for it...my teenage daughter thought tabby was ok 'til he performed ....she now thinks he's a wannabe.

I actually enjoyed Tabby tonight but do agree that his Rock and Roll image took a denting with all the singers and the kids around him even though I liked it.

Yeah I noticed that too. Tabby is a Liam Gallacher wannabe. I guess he'll survive as all the teenagers will vote for him.

The choir was great for tonight. Something a bit different and special.

we could end up looking forward to Simon's act to see what they will do different each week - as if it was themed - eg Big Band one week etc.

i agree, but think he may have lost the teen vote tonight. especially when you look at the rock acts of today...tabby is sooooo tame compared to marilyn manson , slip knot etc etc. the teens of today aren't the teens of the seventies who shamegfully put clive dunn in the top3 with the grandad song...which imo was what tabby based this performance on.

But was it fair on the other acts? I suppose Louis only has himself to blame. He should let his groups choose their own songs.

Well Sharon had a choir of children and adults for Tabby as well - so it seems apparent that they know they can do what they want. Louis just choses not to bother.

Yeah, but the kids who sang with tabby didnt drown out tabbys voice, whereas the choir did drown out simons group a hell of a lot.

I think Simon planned the choir for Verity, to give her much needed confidence, he then put the choir behind his other two acts so as not to make it seem obvious. Rowetta and Steve didn't need it, in Rowetta's case, it made it difficult to hear her amongst the many voices.

Agree with you about Rowetta. She did not need the choir and it drowned her out at times. They were far too loud. Song needed another verse as well. Far too short.

I'd prefer it if they kept the accompanying choirs, kiddies, chimps ( ) until the last couple of shows in the series. Let us hear all the singers on a level playing field and not be distracted by gimmicks. After all, during the early stages of the competition the auditionees are only allowed to sing acapella to the judges so they can make fair judgments of their talent.

Rowetta's problem was the key she was singing the song in, good for her voice, but it didn't giver anywhere to rise above the choir, unlike Steve and Verity.

The length of the song is probably because of the numbers involved, as the numbers drop, so the time of the acts will lengthen.......hopefully, or we may be treated to the three stooges doing a comedy turn to fill the time.

I still think the whole choir thing was for Verity's sake and the other two had to suffer so it didn't look too obvious.

Tabby's song and singing was good, but I couldn't help cringing with the cheese of him kissing kids at the end and the stage seemed too cluttered with people/props/gimmicks. It's a shame cos all that distracted me from his actual performance.

Did Louis forget that Tabby also had a choir tonite?.

So if Simon didn't use a Gospel choir tonite & let's say Sharon or Louis used them for all their acts, then that would have been ok?

Cheating, how? as it was said, there arnt any rules! if simons cheating by using a choir, is sharon? tabby had background singers aswel! but at least they didnt drown out tabbys voice, whereas simons choir did! if anything, i think simon has spoiled his groups chances now, as they will think he needed the choir to make them sound better than they really are.

i'm happy rowetta achieved her dream of having backing singers

don't forget to vote for rowetta

I think the choir was fine. They were a little too loud, but Rowetta had the voice and the stage presence to carry it off. Emotionally and visually they worked very well together. Hers was the best performance of the evening in every way.
