Vodafone
Hi there,
I've had an iPhone 4 for 19 months now with Vodafone. I've been paying £35 a month and paid a little towards the handset itself. The 18 month contract came to an end last month. I dont really want to upgrade my phone at the moment (waiting for iPhone 5, if it comes later in the year), so I thought I'd phone Vodafone to see if I can reduce my bill until I can sign up to something new. I was offered £13 a month (essentially a 'SIM only' deal) for the same minutes and texts I get at the moment. For data I was told 1GB is no longer available, so they offer 500MB - this isnt a huge issue for me. Any data I use in large quantities is at home or work where I have wifi. Here comes my questions/worries. I'm sure the guy said I was tied into the contract for 6 months, then if I find a phone/tarrif I want, I can increase my payment and go on to that contract. e.g. if the iPhone 5 or some blingy phone comes out, I can go back to paying £35 (or probably nearer £40 with tarrif increases recently), and pay a little towards the handset. Today I get an email confirmation of what I agreed to over the phone. It says though that it is a 12 month contract - so today until 28 Feb 2013. This is not what the guy told me on the phone. I'm also doubting he was telling me the truth with 'upgrading' my contract part way through. I dont want to end up paying £13 for the next 12 months, then find a phone and tarrif I want in 6-8 months! Can anyone help? Its distance selling, so I should have a cooling off period if I find I was promised something I'm not getting. |

Then a 24 month contract would become 30 months. I got caught by Voda like this before! |

VF don't do 6momth tariffs looking at their website, sounds like he meant you could upgrade in 6 months time but as suggested above any upgrade tariff would be extended by the 6 months remaining on this tariff.
If I were You i would phone them back and pay a little more and go onto a 30day sim only, will give you the freedom to upgrade whenever you want. |

Hi TheCableGuy,
Legends wear 7 is correct, we only offer 30 day, 90 day or 12 month SIM Only contracts. So that I can take a look into this for you, can you send me an email here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject. If you could also include a link to your post and a contact number, I will get in touch to help resolve this. Many thanks, Heidi Web Relations Team Vodafone UK |

... Or just stay on the £13 contract and buy a new sim free phone elsewhere when you want to.
