D.W.T.S (don't Watch the stars)
In the light of the decision by Watch TV not to show the upcoming DWTS series I started this thread to give dance fans chance to protest. Katherine Jenkins, Martina Navratilova and Gladys Knight are on the show so there should be a lot of interest around the world,
The last series was restored to Watch TV by public demand so if enough people complain Watch TV might deign to give us what we want, otherwise we have to put up with whatever anyone deigns to upload to YouTube. The site to go to is : http://uktv.co.uk/watch/thread/threadID/46568/. |

Tbh as much as I'd like them to show it on Watch, I just watch the YouTube videos the morning after on Codebear4's channel (he uploads all of the videos, pretty much the whole show)

Ive posted on the Watch thread... (with disdain)....
I like watching the dances on a bigger screen than a YT micro screen. Once the series starts, can someone post the link to the YT channel that Codebear uses? At least I will be in the US for the start of the series so should be able to watch the first 2 shows live (if I can stay awake that evening)! |

The reply said they are not showing the Spring series, sounds to me like they're considering just showing the Autumn one again??

Its like what I always used to say about the British TV and thus many people didnt realise that tennis was played all year round and not just during the month of June at Wimbledon... Sorry but Watch's attitude stinks... not getting at you Sally. |

It looks like they only show the Autumn season because of Strictly. I'm really disappointed in their decision

But that implies that Watch dont think that anyone thinks of dancing except during the Autumn months... Its a year round thing.

Hi all,
I emailed my disappointment to UKTV and received this reply from them today: "Thank you for your email. We do hope to be able to acquire the rights to show the new series of Dancing with the Stars as we know it is a very popular series with our viewers and we love it too. There will be an announcement on our website if we are able to broadcast this so please do keep checking for all the latest news and updates. If we are successful in obtaining the rights, it may not be shown for a while yet as due to legal and contractual reasons we do have to stay a certain period of time behind the episodes being shown in the US. Kind regards The UKTV Team uktv.co.uk" Perhaps if more people email their displeasure they may pull out all the stops and get the show back on air. |

BBC3 would be a good fit for DWTS if watch aren't going to show it.

I'm in the states and have a channel called "BBC America" but Strictly Come Dancing has never been shown here! I also have to set my dvr to record BBC World News very early in the morning as it's only shown at 5 am and 6 am.
Yet, they get on a tangent and we'll see that chef stuff over and over again - repeated twenty times a day - Gordon Ramsay yelling at people. I mean, I like him, he's fine, but I don't need to see him 24/7 (except for two friggin' hours of News at dawn.) BBC also will not let non-UK viewers see anything on i-player. WHY NOT? I can't see it here, so what are they losing by letting me watch it on the 'net? In fact, I've bought BBC produced dvds of the tours just because I've managed to see some of Strictly on Youtube (though the BBC tries to keep it off there, as well.) I don't understand it! I know you pay a license fee and we don't - but what would they be losing, exactly, to show it on BBC America or let us see it on i-player? |

Hi KayCee,
I didn't have an email address - I just used the contact form on the website: http://uktv.co.uk/network/item/aid/614888 They got back to me within 2 days of me sending the original message on the form, you usually get an acknowledgement email straight away. Looks like I'll be watching online somewhere if they don't bring it back. |

Also, as a side note, it seems strange that I got that email from UKTV when admin on the Watch forum website posted they won't be showing it at all.

I have had a reply from uktv and they confrimed they are definitely not showing dwts. They said it was because of lack of viewing figures.
If so then anybody in the UK watching DWTS do it because they enjoy dancing, not because of celebrity interest, and likewise in USA. If Strictly and/or DWTS were keen to stir up interest even further, then a transatlantic Strictly/DWTS showdown could be an idea. 4 couples from each side of the pond -- the Pro-Am Dance World Cup. 3 weeks in London, 3 weeks in Los Angeles. |

I never managed to watch DWTS at all in Ireland, possibly it was aired on an obscure channel at an offpeak hour without my knowing. Would it be fair to say, UK audience do not know 90% of DWTS celebs, and USA audience do not know 90% of Strictly celebs?

As for DWTS - it was shown at 9.00pm on Monday nights (last series); Friday nights (previous series) and repeated at other times; on WATCH, channel 109 on SKY - so not really that obscure. |

SKY News, ONE, TWO, Living, Living+1, and Arts 1. The following SKY channels (our 301-323) are by extra subscription: Comedy, Action, Family, Sci-fi/horror, Classics, Indie, Modern, Drama, Crime and Trhiller, Showcase, Premier, Premier_1, Sports 1,2,3, and Xtra. Daily TV listing when printed extends to 28 pages , so it is a struggle to find every gem. Cannot say I have ever heard of WATCH channel here. Ah well, if no DWTS will have to settle for Dancing With Irish Wenches (most desirable too). ![]() http://tv-guide.upc.ie/TV/ |
