I think you underestimate kids when you say that. My sister is 13 and wouldn't be seen dead listening to them. Not all kids have a moronic taste in music, so it shouldn't be trotted out as an excuse for a lack of talent.

I really can't stand them, but I've always thought Liam and Zayn were good singers. Harry and Louis have nice tones to their voices...but they can't sing

Their voices are nothing compared to JLS' Aston and TW' Nathan and Tom though! I've always thought they three were the best singers out of the 3 boybands...Tom just has the nicest tone to his voice!

On the X-Factor the background vocals purposely drowned them out and why?...

Not everybody in the music industry has to be a perfect singer. One Direction play instruments and have co-writing credits, which is a damn sight more than some other groups out there.

I've not seen them on any stage playing instruments...

They have no talent, that's what it's about. People can smokescreen about acoustic guitars all they want.

See I knew this would be the response, people can't accept that they actually sing live on tour. It's like there is a general stigma towards pop groups.

No there isn't. Pop groups are great, no one would deny the vocal talent in Girls Aloud for example ( thinking of Nicola especially). What you can't understand is that they haven't got great singing voices and all your justifications don't wash.

I don't rate any of them, but that's just my opinion.

The group are only half as successful because girls fancy the backsides off of them, they've been manufactured to make money, end of story.

Hmm I get your point but any put together group, seem to get slated on here, as they are not considered a 'real' group.
But that's just my opinion. I like them, many people don't, I'd love them to prove people wrong on their second album though.
