Personally, my concern doesn't rest with G4 lacking talent or the great unquantifiable 'X', that i believe them to have in bucket-loads; my fear is that they have a mentor who is priding himself on having been able to think 'outside of the box' [*begs forgiveness for the use of a horridly over-used term

G4 ARE unquestionably the greater vocalists and interpretative vocal talent within the line-up. The breadth and scope of the potential they offer ought to be a gift, week in week out, to LW...the opportunity their natural talent offers to wide-ranging exploitation by LW is immense...
G4's success rests on whether LW has the courage to do more than punt them as singing left-field arrangements of soft-rock/indie classics. For LW to even touch than genre is beyond his previous ken...he's more comfortable producing MOR boy-band...LW appears to feel he's taken G4 far enough away from that which he knows...BUT G4 have the range to be taken much further.
LW needs to allow G4 to explore the full range, breadth and depth their inate vocal makes possible...i want to hear them adapted to much heavier rock instrumental accompaniment one week...taking on something disco (beatbox) the next...give them a romantic ballad with full orchestra...make them find their R&B...and give us that big-band jazz/lounge...
They have the potential range to give us it all...with a quirk...LW is too convential to see that?!
G4 , vocally and as an entity, will never do themselves a disservice...LW may.
